well i am n o expert but i was told that the legalalities were it cannot be no more then 2" bigger then the original rim size, and the wheel (including rubber) had to remain the same, but like i said that is what i was told.

2 inch rules does not exist anymore.

Overal diameter of wheel + tyre can only increase by 15mm from biggest factory wheels + tyres fitted to the car.

    Hope that helps.

    Thats what ive been told.
Just a question does the 15mm go from the "highest model"?
Like lets say you had an exec that came with 16's but the Calais come with 18's do you have to go by your series? or could you go by the calais? ( bad example I know but.. Still should get what I mean.

    NO

my VT Calais is factory on 17's but the tyre plac says 16's so the 2inch rule only lets me have 18's. Thats the way it works mates

Nope, the biggest size rim fitted to that model should be on the tyre placard.

So if you have an exec, it's the biggest factory fitted to the exec. If a calais, then whatever they fitted factory for the calais.

So say it's an Exec, work out what the overal diameter of wheel + tyre is, and you can go 15mm bigger overall. I also beleive there is a 25mm track width increase rule.

And another rule that says once everything if on and ready, the front wheels cannot foul any body, suspension or inner guard panels during normal opeation including full lock to lock.

Similar deal for the back, so the wheel cannot fould the body or inner guard panels durig it's FULL suspension travel.

2 inch rule has been gone for a while now and I'm pretty sure it's gone Australia wide since it's ADR (ADR 24 to be specific) regulations that govern this type of modification.

    Handy link:

    Third Edition Australian Design Rules

It may have been supplied with wheels fitted at the dealer. They may could have been anything - I'd be just happy they are round

ALL VT Calais have 16's plac's even the international, even tho they come with 17's

VN areo plac's say 15 even tho HDT fit them with 16's and the VE SS optioned with 20's still say 19's so Holden dont help out there.
