Default need help revoming front suspension

hey guys i'm changing front suspension ova from my two cars cant quite do it-
at the top there is a 22mm nut i cant get undone cause the shock spins underneath- no i decided to pull the whole thing offwith the disk still attatched. so i've unbolted the steering arms and all the other shit. the only thing im having a problem is,is with at the base of it all there is a 21 or 23mm nut which i've undid and the thing pivets on the bolt but i cant get the bolt out and cant see how you do it- i need to do it to pull it out :S so i need to pull it off of the bolt but on both sides when you actually pivette it left to right the bolt spins with it sooooo....wtf?

wow man u need work on writing a procedure 2.

The nut and bolt at the bottom which pivots is called the lower ball joint, its a ball and socket joint so it will swivel all day.

Leave the nut on there prolly the thickness of the nut.

Go and get a mallet atleast or sledge hammer if no mallet but be very bloody careful. That joint/connection of the bolt is a tapered shaft so its jammed in there, a really solid hit by the mallet on the VERY BOTTOM of the strut tower assembly (the part the ball joint goes into). Make sure you dont hit the rubber boot around the ball joint as you will split it, then you must press it out and replace which you dont want to do so be careful.

As for the spining of the shock absorber shaft with the nut at the top of the tower, slide the dust boot up or down the shock so you can see the shinny shaft of the shocky.

Grab a rag and wrap it around the shaft and then grab your multi-grips and hold on, then loosen the nut bud and she should come off.

You need a taper breaker to remove that with damage, just take the Z arm off and slide it out with the hole bottom suspension arm and swap the hole thing WAY easier. To remove the tie rod end (steering thingy) undo the nut and with a engineers hammer hit around the casting (do not hit the actual bolt sticking up hit the cast around it) really hard it will just fall out. thats how you do it with out hitting the tie rod end shaft and making it into a mushroom.

    Hope this helps

you can buy a ball joint/tie rod end remover, it looks like some medievil torture device and can get one for about 40 bucks from supercheap or something like that, it makes things alot easier then hitting with a hammer....although sometimes a hammer is all you got.....

not rubber mallet mate, you need a metal mallet, something that will litterally jar the metal. It works believe me, the sweeter the hit the less you hit it, i used to crack them first go every time but if you wanna buy a ball joint splitter, be my guest. I found they used to slide in and split the boot, the thing you are trying to protect.

oh my, well you were not sposed to hit the shaft at all just around it, it jars it out. Like Bucket said tapper breakers damage the rubber around the tie rod ends, but buy the sounds of things there unusable now. Buy a tapper breaker from supercheap, I also sussgest you buy a manual to help you in the future they give tips on removing those tricky parts. Better luck next time.
