running on 5cyl
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
hey all i got a bit of a problem my vl is running on 5.ill let you know what ive checked and replaced and if any one can throw up some answers or tell me what to check that would be much apreciated.
new head gasket.
6 new plugs.
new rotor button.
ive checked the ohm's of the leads they are fine.
ive ran a compresion test and its all good 130-135 acros all 6
should i be checking the coil maybe the spark isnt strong enough?
any other ideas?
thanks in advance
not really coil as its fine with other cylinders
could be a lead man regardless of a test. how about the dizzy cup as in the contacts inside it could possibly have a crack causing it to earth out through it and not travel along the lead
Possibly be an injector problem as well,
test injector for the specific cylinder.
Could also be a plug problem. my step dad changed over plugs for his vnv8 commo and it ran on 7 cylinders. turn out it was a faulty plug from manufacture.
i doubt it........... but could be CAS starting to fail...
goodluck bruz let us know
ok the leads all tested 12 ohm's
i tryd old plugs plus new plugs but im going to gap plugs to .8 and see what happens maybe the spark is blowing out
possible it is blowing out, have the car running and pull each lead off one at a time to see which one it is, then run a series of test on the cylinder.
you could just swap a lead around and see if it is the lead, swap the spark plug over see if it is blowing out, when you have the plug out put it in the lead start the car and see if it is sparking, also check if that cylinder is getting fuel
plugs are new leads are fine did it with old plugs.doubt the spark would blow out now that i think of it only on hard throttle it would.
trying .8 in the gaps
all getting spark,all getting fuel.
gaped the plugs still running a bit rough.
distributor cap is my next step mite aswell get a new one
even when testing a lead, still may be a fkd lead.... or dicky plug on end of lead where it is crimped to the core could be contacting most of the time then not contacting
true true get a new cap and rotor button see how you go
getting whole new dizzy most prob the cas i here cause when it gets to operating temp it dies.
yeah what are the chances that i have 2 sets of plugs and in each set one is nackerd but will try lol
Nice man c how u go. let us know.
It may be something dumb like the slit in the CAS disk for the cylinder may have debris causing it not to read when it moves through the sensor
Even pull dizzy apart and inspect for orange powder from a bearing dust seal under CAS this causes debris to block the slits on the ally disk. If u dont know what im talking about search my thread Step By Step Guide for Replacing the Crank Angle Sensor (CAS) on an RB30
Cheers
cheers mate
well found the problem number one injector lead [ plug on injector wire ].it would run shit but if i put a bit of pressure on the plug that connects to injector it ran sweet and on all 6.very happy now
Nice buddy well done.... knew it was nothing too drastic as u said your compressioon test was good...
fkn electrics :P
fkn vl's lol gota love them thoe now i can re rego it
