Replace Ignition Switch and Car Value

Hi Everyone,

I'm new here, and have a few questions I'm hoping some of you might be able to answer...

My car was recently stolen, and as a result the ignition is busted. I don't know the extent of the damage, but assume that the barrel needs replacing. How much should I expect to pay to have this done??

Parts of the engine were also dismantled, but the parts were recovered so they just need to be put back in.

My solex locks were also busted, so I need new locks.

Insurer has deemed the car a total loss. I don't have the assessors report yet, but I am led to believe that the above is the extent of the damage.

All up, how much do you think it would cost to fix?

And how much do VLs usually sell for? Mine has done 300+ kms, is in reasonable condition, with all panels in good shape with the exception of the front bumper. I would like to fix the car and continue to use it. If it costs too much to fix I will sell. I'm also looking at selling it within the next 6 months regardless...

Anyway, any help will be appreciated!

Hello and welcome to JC
you could get another barrel and install it yourself not too difficult... as for solex locks they r sh*t :P(pliers can twist them out) just go with factory ones.

it really depends on the extent of the damage and how much u can do youself.....
as well as value depends about overall condition/running condition a few Km's on the old girl though
rust in the usual spots any mods etc etc
street value for a vl is $1000 but u could jag higher
