hey fellas, was wondering if i need to go to regency if i do a turbo conversion on my vl (im pretty sure you do...). also, what needs to be changed, besides rear discs, on the car for it to pass? how hard is it to get through?
Hi, I have a VL Commodore, engine barely idles but runs near normal over 3 000 rpm, i know its something electrical and im pretty sure its the air flow metre. Could it be something else or is this the problem?. dizzy/fuel pump, injectors and plugs, leads and filtres recently re-newed. Sorry, first time using this site so i wasnt sure where to post this question? Have no idea how to use it....
Start a new thread in this section asking the same question you just did bud but i am having more or less same issues and my afm is farked, to the op you need discs and i think thats about all except for the ecu, zorst etc.
Cheers for that, appreciate it. I dont know if i still posted the question correct like you said. I also thought it was my afm...
if your car is already sa rego then no you dont have to go to regency.but if your car is fro m out of state and you wana bring it to sa rego then it needs a eng/vin check and they also lok at lights and obviouse things like rim size and ride height
cheers guys.. have you actually done this yourself? so all i have to do is fill out that engine modification form and send it to them to process? then they will give me back a new registration form stating that it is turbo? i was reading on another thread that thats how it works with some V8 conversions. also, will they question me about my brakes? my vl doesnt come with standard discs. ps VL TwM id say it is your AFM also. mine did the same thing.
is you car sa rego?if it is sa rego do the turbo conversion and forget the rest.also slap a disk rear end in any ways.
yea my car is sa rego. im just thinkin worst case scenario. like if i have a crash and my insurance is void etc. i want the conversion to be absolutely legitimate. i had to learn this the hard way. cheers for your advice anyway bow down..
i am about to do this mate. i got defected so im going to get my defect cleared and at the same time get it complied turbo. ive changed my car to turbo while its been off the rd. and yes you do have to to make it all legit. thats why im doing it
thanks man i thought thats how you had to do it. i was initially gonna do it the way you are, take it off the road and do the conversion, then thru regency. could ya let me know how you go with your visit to regency? also what sort of setup are you going for? high or low compression?
yeah mate ill let you know. ive put a genuine a8 motor in from a vl turbo so just lo comp. pretty much everything stock except for a front mount and hi flowed turbo. exhaust will be going 3'' after regency. have just made sure everything is mint.
