Remove rear window regulators

My VL i had for a while now is near rego, and both rear window winders are like burred over and cant put a winder on to wind up or down . I have new track and gear to replace them with. Is it just taking the window out and drilling the rivets and replaceing it, and would using bolts or somthing to hold the gear on the door.

is the spline for the window good or is it just a stripped handle??
the spline is a stronger material (metal) apposed to the plastic winder..
weird why the spline would be stripped.
if the spline is stripped at the window u will need to replace the spline shaft to gear..(complete unit??)

Thanks for your quick reply its metal part thats stripped, i dont know how my mate done it buts its farrked lol.
I have the gear and track thing to go in but just need some help on getting the old one out without breaking the window

forgotten how they are braced man. last time i had my rear door card off i was putting in cenral locking and cant remember how the setup is for the window.
does it have nylon clips(attached to window) that slide along the steel guide channel which is mounted to the gear track..and cables for window raise and lower
if so u need to angle the window in a way to slide the nylon runners out of the guide track, try different heights with the window to find where it is the closest to the end of the guide track(u channel)
i remember on Vn commo(step dads) i fixed drivers window one of the clips dropped out of the guide channel and dropped the window on an angle was tricky but got it

3 or 4 rivets to take the mech out, but take the glass bit out first by winding all the way down and take off the brackets that clamp onto the cables. Then remove glass and drill rivets out

I cant move the window at all

grab it with multigrips man....
or pliers... give it a good spray with oil all the gears and pivots to help it be easier

it doesn't look right, like it's been recessed back in to the door skin , it should be poking out way more than it is! you need to get behind it and try and somehow push it back out if you can.
and does it have electric windows? what are all those wires?
also why does one have 3 rivets and the other has 2 rivets and a screw?
and it looks like the handles had been glued on for sale. wtf.

I remember when I had my VL, the rear windows were very stiff. The window mech used a wire cable with small wheels fixed to the lower inside of the door that had seized. A bit of wd40 and grease got them moving again.

judging by pics it looks like somebody has cut down the manual handle spline and put in power windows

Thanks for your help guys ill check it out today , it dosent have power windows switches in it so how would i find out what them wires are for in the window?? and if they are spose to be for power windows where should the wire up to ??

The wires are for a after market central locking kit. Im so totally thinking too just buy 2 rear vl doors , only bad thing is i cant get any in my paint :-(

hey wondering if you fixed? it or figured out the problem? i have a problem simular except i got all the parts i dont know hot to install it any diagrams that use could help me with please would be great ?
