Hey guys,
I wana know what is the best fuel for my VL. I just changed fuel filter and put in platinum plugs. I was gona give that Vortex a go but is it worth it?
Simple answer, i dont think paying 10-15cents per L is really worth it in a n/a vl
i tried everything i could buy locally, 91, 94 bio, 95 and 98,, the difference i found, even with the timing well advanced was very small and not worth the extra money
^^^ agreed
i've done the same thing in the past in WA, and even tried it with slightly modified cars and still not really worth the extra ya paying
i would have used the stock ngk plugs platnum is rubbish
Thanx guys
Yeah mate imo just run normal unleaded
I agree with all above, unleaded is fine.
Nobody wants to play with me
91 for n/a, premo 98 for turbs

1987 VL SL turbo 5 speed ~STOLEN~

i put 98 when i first got my car only because it wasnt driven in over a year so i did it to clean out the car but after a while i went to normal 91 and no real difference in performance and economy
b4 my convert i used 91 all the time started fine drove fine.. etc etc
when i put premo 98 it started likea dog and ran like a dog. so back to 91 it was...
now with turbo premo 98 and all is well...
Will running Caltex thru it cause engine pinging? Does it cause any damage?
Thanx
not at all man i run Caltex Vortex caus i have a fuel card from work for caltex Servos and no probs with pinging,,,, running a cooler as well... 15 degrees timing as well on 6psi
does the VL get a buildup of carbon in the combustion chambers, raising the compression ratio so needing a higher octane
Can you move the dizzy and adavnce the timing?? If you advance the timing until it starts to ping and then put premium in you may see some improvement in power/fuel economy....
if its an NA use anything man would not worry...
unless you turbs it....
then run 98
