im not sure which pump it is but i think it is the external one. anyway it seems to be really loud. am i meant to be able to hear it from inside the car. i just read that alot of vl's have noisy pumps and this means that they are on their way out. chould i just rplace it and if so how much should i expect to pay??
cheers

If the car stops in peak hour, I listen for the pump working - this tells me that the pump is working and that it is probably an ignition problem. If I can't hear it I get out and bash the tank with a broom stick. I think internal is 200 plus, external is 200 plus, filter is 12 plus. The holley fuel pump is like a jack hammer. As the external is not submerged it is easier to hear.
Does anyone know the model of the external pump????
my external fuel pump is also noisy and an autoelectrician listened to it and said it was normal
Put a newer one in today and it was louder - so perhaps a noisy pump is a healthy pump???
Not sure if its meant to be noisy, mine doesn't make a loud noise, two others i've checked out make it but 1 louder than the other...fiddled with the connections on one and stopped for a little while...but the one with the loudest fuel pump didn't want to pump fuel the previous day...that's y we checked it out.
the ones in the tank are usually the loudest(mine is) but never had any problems with it![]()
Alot of people say noisey pumps mean they are on their way out, mines was fine for 4 years without drama's. It did start to get louder though. I just figured its a pump, its pumping, it has to be noisey.
