how long do the engines last before rebuilt?

just wanna know how many kms ppl have done in there vl turbo cars before anything has gone wrong, and say if its manual or auto.

when they were chosen for the VL back in the 80's nissan said they were built to be good for 400 000k's. Of course this will vary according to heaps of factors. generally speaking dont bother with a rebuild unless its starting to play up or unless your planning some major mods.
not sure about the turbo unit itself though.

lol i got mine with clock busted @ 167,000 so i put a new one in and wound it back to that, im guessing 250+ but it only starts ticking (lifters) after oil is over 8000 k's so im still sweet. Injectors are shot,hence 350-380 ks a tank. Fuel smell from worn hoses but im working 7 days so no time to repair.

my na autos got 227,000 same lifters start ticking when oil gets thin 5000kms for me, no loss in power runs like a dream
and I thrash it every day

mines got 380000ks on gas sometimes has the ticking but never a problem runs fine seems like it'll go for ages

hi there mines done 383,000 and spedo would have stoped around a year ago
never had a rebuild
tapets are noiseie car runs ruff as guts but still sits on the spot and spins
thay are strong motors exsept the head and all electronics

but my mates has got 698,000 on the clock i dont know if it has had a rebuild tho

my v8 had done 280,000 and it was shagged.... did a compression test and the highest was 39psi in the chamber!!! so it got a nice rebuild

mine only just hit 202,000 its the n/a 6
but umm.... thre a few little problems... like i notice a whinning noise! even whilst idoling it whin's a little! plus when i turn corners it makes a bitch of a noise!! anybody else got this?? i think it could be the power steering!! anybody know what would stop it??? id love for it to be quite!! lol..

other then that i thought i woud be a total ******** the other day and give it a flogging as i have had it for ummmm.....7 months or so!! i think.... and i havent yet given it a beating! like only 1 month or so with P's but yeh it was instorage for ages....

so yeh..... hit 6grand!! :| dunno if its healthy but it sounded like a charm! ecept once the foot is taken off it whin really loud....
the higher faster im going in a low gear the louder the whin... but then that would/should be kinder expected ay??

mines only on 182thou but got a mate with 337thou and it still runs fine.. no blue smoke, well maintained tho and the ticking only happens when u first start it up cold, was told it was the lifters which was good cos id been borrowing it and thought id broken something

mines at 333,000+ got the tick but it stills kicks

yeah mine ticks for about 4-8 seconds only if the car has been sitting there a few hours(well overnight) caused by the oil running back down to the sump.
Think nothing of it it stops as soon as oil is up there.
Could not tell you about a Reco, mine is at 2300000 and still runs like a dream
