wanna know how many kws power ppl have for there vl and what mods they have done?
well i havent re-dyno'd it yet. But at drift nationals last year at oran park it made 210rwhp (158 rwkw) with the stock computer and stok injectors, on a 38 degree day, with no fans. since i have added a haltec E6S, and huge injectors. ill let yuo all know how it goes. in the mean time if u want to add me drift_king87@msn.com.......just got it tuned. now makes 286rwhp

mine is stock and it will leave my dads 2004 ford AU and they have i think 168kw
im assuming its a turbo then?
Half a carton and still going!!! Now thats Economy
I have a grandpa berlina VL - sorry no mods
With a real time test I would say my VL pumps out 70rwponies - both my VLs have 300, 000km which is about right for 18 years - I figure that the odometer misses a little as they don't tend to have more than this.
the old vl t I use to have had over 1 mil on the clock.. still went hard too
my vl v8 berlina has 250 000 somethingbut its broken so god only knows!!!
where can i get a new one? besides holden!
I'd say the best place to pick one up is on eBay or a wreckers. They're a prick to fit though (I've heard) you have to pull half the dash apart apparently? Mine stopped at around 200,000 as well. I haven't bothered to fix it though. Wasn't sure where the fault was and I'm not a wizz at that stuff.
took it in for a dyno tune, the sheet says 122.6kw at wheels, but as far as i know it's stock. odd for a non-turbo six i thought
well i dont know but would like to know. can anyone give me a guestament on kw.
its a 6 walker 2 1/2 inch exhaust & extractors
dont know what has been done to the engine but a mate has a vl with xf throttle bodie extractors and pod filter and cold air intack, and mine will easyily beat his. but any help will be appriciated
pulling the dash apart is easy once u've done it about 3,000 times lol.
i reckn i'd know where every screw is... my mate watches in amazement
122rwkw is quite amazing if your reading it right considering they came out stock with 114kw at the engine.
I pumped out 120rwhp or thereabouts when it was n/a- just excuse and filter.
I got a result when I did the turbo conversion, but it said 130rwhp. And I honestly didn't believe it.
i dunno i recon i've got about 170rwkw's(estimated). VLT berlina running 13psi, cooler and exhaust. 5 speed man, rest of car is basically stock. i wouldn't try to get any more outta my car till i upgrade the fuel system and turbo.
Never late, in a 30..4 lol![]()
few bits better than stock looking at 150-160. much less when running LPG (which is all i can afford lately.....) nearly 300 000 on the clock.
std vl 6 cyl runs 114kw, turbo runs 150kw and V8 runs 132kw. Mine is std with cold air induction, k&n filter, pacemakers, hi-flow cat and sports exhaust and putting stage 2 chip in next week. i estimate my kw's to be more than a std v8 but not as high as a turbo... yet. A bloke at uni-chip also told me all vl's run different kw's. even if the same bloke made it on the same day with the same batch of bits. i do like the idea of removing the mesh, no real point for it. it doesn't filter squat unless you run a pod filter or ram flow that falls apart and sucks into the intake.
unless its XR6 or Fairmont Ghia they are 158kw, and even then unless you have a Turbo NO stock VL N/A would hold one off.mine is stock and it will leave my dads 2004 ford AU and they have i think 168kw
Is that a stock turbo readout? im certain the V8 pumped more than the turbo from factory....(but i cant back with with perfect numbers so laugh)std vl 6 cyl runs 114kw, turbo runs 150kw and V8 runs 132kw. Mine is std
....sorry was thinking of torque. disregard last post...
max ellery gives the V8 @ 122kw.
If you want more inches, STROKE IT!
hey got my calais turbo dynoed stock motor and turbo just cat back stainless 3" exhaust and front mount 122rwkw
that seems a bit weak for a turbo with cooler and 3".Originally Posted by VLCT87
but anyway check out this site for good specifications, VK - VY and on the top right hand side of the page you can select the model and get more info from VB - VZ, its worth the look.
my web sitestuff on the XF throttle body conversion, calais interior and lots of other junk!
our vl berlina is fairly stock 6 , which we were told had a blown head gasket , that was 12 months ago and still goes strong. Everyday driven car.
On my old set up, I made 170rwkw.
Havent dynoed the new set up yet, but it will be 200rwkw +
