i got a series 1 berlina and to the left of the demist button on the corner of theat part of the dash is 2 funky shapped buttons that put the aerial up and down i think electrical aerial was an option when the car was first bought so when i turn the car on it goes up when i turn it off it goes down but with the buttons u can set the height of the aerial ureself

    cheers

A decent radio will have a plain blue wire and a blue and white one on the back (aftermarket radio) one is to turn the amp on and the other ios for power aerial.
If you want more inches, STROKE IT!

thats pretty cool. mine is automatic so goes up when the radio comes on and off when the radio is off. Only problem is that UP is VERY UP like at first i thought it looked pretty gay (ruined my streamlined look lol) a button like that would be nice.

I have an aftermarket electric aerial i want to install, as my orginial one got snapped off by some punk.
Has anyone done this recently? What are the steps to doing it? Do i have to take the front quarter off?
Also, it has an up/down button in the kit which i want to put in the hole to the bottom left of the dash (where the electric mirrors button is on berlinas)
Any help would be good, thanks.

Yeah you will most likely have to take the guard off to do it. Bumper first, then the bumper moulds, then the nosecone then you can remove the guard. Oh the fun, I just got a new guard for mine so I'll be doing that this week.

lol no need to take the gaurd off.

    take off wheel.
remover plastic inner gaurd. (plastic push clips - push in and screw out).
instant access to aerial, youll figure it out from there.

    its that easy.
