Help please!

Hey guys, long time reader first time poster. Haha.

Anyways, my VL Calais is having a few problems. If left to idle for too long, it stalls. It'll start again, but as soon as it idles for a while, it stalls again. And when it revvs to around 3-4 thou, it splutters a bit. I'm not sure what this is, as I have no idea about Nissan motors.

And just one little thing, the old battery died so I replaced it. The car refuses to do anything with this new battery, could this be a electrical fault? I haven't had any time to check anything out with it yet, so I'm just curious if anyone knows what to look for.

The old battery could have been causing it to stall and splutter as the revs increase if it was down on volts. At a guess i would say you have a dirty connection on one of your battery terminals or you could have left one of the wires off. Also check that the plugs are still connected on the smaller wires that go to the battery.
