hi guys this is the first time ive tackled my exhaust system and im just wondering if i should get rid of the rear muffler and cat converter.any ideas. and the middle muffler is a walker anyone heard of this brand cheers
walker is a pretty good brand mate, you'd better keep the cat as for removing the rear muffler .... yea why not lol =)
It's illegal to remove your cat, you wont pass your next rego without it, that is if you don't get caught without it before then.
Put on a set of extractors, a high flow cat if you must, and yeah leave out the rear muffler if you really like the idea of droney exhaust noise.![]()
The fine is between $9000 - $12000 depending on state for not having a cat, it destroys then environment even moar..

and if your car gets tested by the EPA and fails ... its $250,000 ( mate with a BNS ute almost copped it )
EPA ... don't mess with them
Just get a high flow cat mate.
and if the epa see you have a pod filter its a $15 000 fine!!!
..i was kinda taking the piss, have never ever seen a fine, heard of any ever been fined or epa'd without a cat and then recieved the fine reguard no cat.
no idea where this whole bull shit 10 000k fine comes from.
The fine is listed in one of the epa's documents as a class 2? fine without knowing what a class 2 fine is I guess it's safe to assume it's 10 grand. You can bet no fine the epa is legally able to issue is a light one. I also doubt they have acted on it but that doesn't mean they aren't able or wont at some time![]()
I wouldn't be surprised if it was that high though, since the EPA is a government organisation, and we all know the government is definitely never shy about charging high amounts of moneys.
But I will point out one other mob to keep an eye out for if you're driving a 'less than legal' car, in NSW at least, and that's the RTA Inspection vehicles.
They 'apparently' have more power than the police do when it comes to defecting your car, and they're tougher on your car than police too.
If for whatever reason they randomly pull you up, and find just one thing wrong, they'l go over your car with a magnifying glass(so to speak), looking for 'anything' which does not meet ADR approval, and they know their stuff too, way better than the police do.
cheers guys i am looking at buying a high flow cat. ****ing off my rear muffler.
