VL Opera House Special Limited Edition V8??

hey all i just joined up to this as i bought a VL off a mate the other week. Its apparently an Opera House Special. has the badge on the glove box it is make no. 036. has a Black 308, Disc brakes all round, BorgWarner Diff. Calais Dash, 3 speed auto.

i need to know how to tell if this is a genuine OHS?

you will need to post the numbers on the option plate for an answer.
E.G.
Model;
body no;
trim;
paint;
built;
ENG; TRANS; AXL;.

and I can almost gaurantee it is a 4.9l V8 (304)

The A9Q = Dealer Marketing Group May 88 - so yep looks like the real deal going by the build plate.

Your title is misleading mate, i was expecting a limited edition v8 badge with a big black woman with an affro in the middle.

ive seen a few round now.last one i seen was a red one.

and im sure the material on the trim is difrent from exec,berlina and calais

went to the holden dealer and he put it through their system and he couldn't tell me anything apart from that it's defiantly a HSV made car. so he gave me the HSV number and he said they will be able to give me all the info i want hopefully.

will let you all know once i ring them.

of course, the A9Q denotes a dealer marketing group pack = a local dealer in sydney put it together as a special order for customers who ordered it the build number denotes how many the particular dealer and/or network sold.
sorry benny you need to change your username to 304.
I'll have to check but the LV2 maybe the high compression 304 V8.

ok im a little confused.. so whats with the opera house limited edition V8 badge on the glove box? just something someone has put on there to make it look like something special?

i've been told by a fair few people that the 304 V8 only come with injection?? and the 308's are carby.. mine is a carby not injection. if you could find out what i've got i'd be much appreciative (:

yes you have an opera house special edition

im 99% sure all vl v8s were 304 carby.none were efi what so ever.i did hear some where some early model vl v8s were 308 thoe.

i ran HSV and they said there were never any VL OHS made. only VN model commodores were made in OHS limited edition. i also rang a syndey dealer and they said they never made VL OHS.

this is driving me nuts. lol

LV2 - high compression V8 - is fuel injected and was in group A commodores 1988.

opps i ment yeah the walkinshaw was injected but the rest wernt......

wonder why it seys lv2 when its not an injected v8?

All VLs are carby 304s besides walkys.
Some late VKs also have the 304, and the early ones have the 308.


So if its a factory V8, its most certainly a 304.



And they are a legit model, do a search and you should find out more info, pretty sure commodorenut covered it all on SC forum.
