Default My VL running as rough as guts (wont idle well)

Hey guys yeah I have noticed it getting gradually worse and worse (it needs a service) would it just need a service or is it something more sinister? where should I look at first for faults?
    thanks guys!

oh yeah and it doesn't blow any smoke and it doesn't overheat but has been getting allot of lifter rattle since I put the 18's on and if I put it in economy mode it nearly stalls at the lights and is eratic in power delivery when driving with low revs

    Default ill try to help!

i had this problem too. i had to replace a few plugs: crank angle sensor, coil pack plug, and check your coil pack for cracks, it could be that. one more thing is that your air flow meter could be on the way out. good luck., theres nothing worse then driving a car the almost dies on you, i know coz its happened to me too. let me know how u went

mine ran like a $2 ho until i adjusted the AFM, it blew black smoke and stalled. Run an ohmeter ( with car off and plug removed) from pin 1 to pin 6 and set resistance at 3.6-3.8 ohms

Another thing to check is the crank angle sensor (CAS). Check the 4 pin plug going into the dizzy, scratch the pins with a scraper or razor blade and then remove the dizzy cap, take the button off and remove the plastic plate, under you will find a thin metal disc with lots of grooves in it, thats your CAS. Look for orange dust but a symptom from that is unable to start sometimes.

with checking afm I usually do 3 things.

    1. Check that all hoses etc are clamped down tight no extra air getting in
    2. Check connection for corrosion etc...
    3. Check using a multimeter as explained above.

after that I check temp sensor, cas, fuel pump & relays, idle control, ECU, etc, & just go with process of elimination.
