Default reco prep 4 turbo? 4 bextor..

bextor i saw in a threat u wrote something like "i dnt see the point of re-building a a stock rb30 if ur not gunna turbo it".. n i've been thinking..
my rb30e is a non turbo, but have redback extractors n exhaust, n i would eventually like to turbo it.
i have 15mths till i'm 21 which is my aim to have my VL a turbo.
how can i prep my engine or what can i buy in prep to the conversion, kind of on a week by week basis... i know the extractors are a waste of time... but can i run turbo injectors and pod filter, turbo exhaust manifold on a stock engine until the turbo comes along? or is there a limit to it?
i know i can go out and buy the brakes n that to leave in the shed for when the time comes... what else could u suggest??

you need a turbo ecu, vl turbo fuel pump, turbo diff,vl turbo pistons or a decompression plate, you could run turbo injectors and intake without a turbo it will run but it will run too rich and will f%ck your piston rings. it wont be a cheap procedure. I am just gonna buy a turbo VL when the time comes. but its entirely up to you,

Looks good, I'd advice against decompression plates though, just nasty critters, two gaskets etc aren't too nice. Inlet can stay the same as the n/a stuff. And the fuel pump is the same n/a and vlt.

Cheap procedure, a turbo conversion, engine alone, can be done for less then 1500 dollars if you shop around and IF you have some knowledge of what your doing, where to go for the parts, and know exactly what you need.

Anyway on another note, this is what I'm doing with the current car, project car that is. I'm eventually hoping for a fairly nice vlt engine, but seeing as I can't really afford to build an rb30et motor at the moment, I'm going out and buying the accessories. Stock vlt manual ecu, exhaust manifold, turbo, injectors - For now.

When that arrives, I'm going to bolt it all onto the n/a engine thats currently in the car, Keeping in mind that the inlet pipes or turbo back won't have to be purchased, as I am getting 3" exhaust, custom dump and front pipe, and all new inlet thanks to an intercooler. Reasonable boost levels and combat detonation, and I'll build myself the rb30et motor, then switch it all over. Thats just one route to think about .. Depending on what you want, the NA engine WILL SURVIVE boost, so long as its at a reasonable level and you know the dangers of pinging.

my main worry is gettin stooged by a mechinic by paying MORE for parts then i should?
i havent got a prob paying for hands (as i dnt trust myself).
what i might do is go get a few quotes and make a new thread on here, run in by you lads.
just gots news yeasterday of an rb30e that a mate's mate wants to get rid of for a slab. so that's a start i guess.

yeah man you wil get stoooged if your not careful.

1500 max for the entire conversion parts, thats ..

crossover pipe, 90 degree metal inlet
rubber inlet, manifold, dump, front pipe, turbo, lines, injectors, ecu. i think thats all of it.

i paid 1000ish for mine, around the time i got my stuff 1500 was the going price.

i pm'd a guy today about a manifold and he wanted 450. thats bullshit. you could get a custom for a bit more then that.

just shop around man... if i find anything that i don't want ill point you towards it.

as im only chasing minimal things atm

dude if ur gonna put turbo injectors, ecu, intake, etc.. just stock up on all the stuff, and pick up a t03.. u can usually find em for like 300 bucks or something.. theyre a dime a dozen. one of my mates has like 10 of them sitting in his garage...

but um...honestly im only lookn for bout 170-180rwkw. just enough u know?
would i it be better to buy a t3 or t4 or 5 litre...
if i can get 170kw from a t3 n cooler it'd be alrite, but i know a t4 requires more mods to protect it from a lotta lag.
spose i THINK VN-VS (s1) came out 165kw standard.. wot cheap mods will pick up a v8? diff? ss intake? if i buy a VN5L it'd save me cash for a cooler, injectors, ecu, etc?
