I have just finished a V6 conversion in a VC and decided it was easier to use a tank out of a VL 6 with the swirl tank built in and with the internal lift pump. I then fitted an external Pierburg EFI pump and filter. All you will need then is a return line, I used rubber EFI hose and ran it along with the other fuel and emission lines.

you could go to the wreckers and get the fuel return line and tank from a 6cyl. then bend the tabs on the chassis out and fit the return line.
This is good site to watch.I found it informative as I have been researching a lot lately on such matters such as you talk about.
