Sup Everyone.... i just recently bought a VL Executive and would like some help on a few things.... one being is that i dont know how to turn interior light on when all doors are shut so could someone please tell me where the light switch is if there is one...... and also if i have some mild surface rust in areas such as the inside of the door.... will i be able to sand it down to bare metal and paint it? one last thing.... i have a remote alarm.... is it possible for me to take the central locking out of a calais and run it through the remote for the alarm also? if so how much would this cost.... sorry im a bit of a noob... replies will be much appreciated...
the interior light is oporated by the slide switch on the tight hand side of the steering column, it also controls the dash lights, and then you can flick it a bit higher, and the interior light will come on

you've probably just blown the globe or the interior light fuse. Check both of those and it should be fine!Originally Posted by VL2NV

lol how angry...
Rust inside the door? Check its not rusty water marks first.
Lastly, if your alarm has a central locking module then it will run it, some alarms came with them, some dont. Usually a little black box. Dunno what the calais used, have a look to see where the wires ran to it. U can buy the entire central locking kits these days for peanuts.
If you want more inches, STROKE IT!
central kit is less than $30. better to buy new as the pumps can lose strength when sitting for too long eg at the wreckers. they are no fun to install either. wiring is easy though. get to know your alarm and where the box is and see whats there. did you get any instruction book off whoever put it in?
im planning on getting a ct kit from identimark in perth. its 125 bucks for the kit with the 2 remote things. keyless entry of course. not installed.
am i getting ripped
Half a carton and still going!!! Now thats Economy
Angry? lol... i didnt get angry... im actually happy.... suprised some people are helpin me out... little black box ey? dont have a clue what ur talkin bout.... ive only just bought this car... it is an executive so it dont have central locking but it has an alarm so am i able to buy a new central locking kit and have it wired up to my alarm so whenever i unarm my car it also unlocks it? if u cant help... das cool... ummmm... as for the rust... yea its just sum mild surface rust on the inside part of the door... not visible from outside...
Thanx for replies every1....
yes mate you can do that with the cnetral. you just need to find your alarm unit - it could be anywhere as these werent factory - and find some outputs for the central locking. once you get the central youll see what the wires for that looks like so youll know what you are looking to connect it to. the alarm unit will more than like a LITTLE BLACK box under the steering wheel somewhere (above your feet - remove the panel have a look around...)
slide the switch UP not DOWN you noob lol. when it hits the top push it a bit further.
