These photos were taken today. Me being the idiot that i am forgot to take photos of the rear end of which the rear bumper is missing, hopefully you guys can fill me in on the price of one of those.
The guy has recently spent $4k on the motor and transmission, with receipts. (It's my sister's friend.)
The car seems to be running lean or rich and every 10-15 seconds chugs for a second. It's in need of a really good tune from a respected mechanic.
The car handles well on the road, not a problem at all. Power steering works better than my VS with a difference 10mm, the vl has only got 16s.
Whilst driving on the return trip he gave it a bit and it was comparable to a standard VS, running 4 psi. (also it's auto)
There is paint damage to boot and roof, both of which need a respray (photos provided) what would paint cost on that?
Immaculate interior, i can not believe how clean it was inside.
Let me know if you think it's worth a thought buying...

QUOTE Whilst driving on the return trip he gave it a bit and it was comparable to a standard VS, running 4 psi.

Why 4psi? It should be running around 7psi if it's factory standard. Does it have a boost/vac gauge? A stock VLT on boost should feel like it has quite a bit more than a V6 VS.

QUOTE There is paint damage to boot and roof, both of which need a respray (photos provided) what would paint cost on that?

Close to $1000 to get it done properly, looks like it's had a pretty hard life. Check right around the front and rear screens for rust, particularly in the boot area/rear window support. It's also missing the windscreen trim and looks like it's been leaking and bodged up.

QUOTE Let me know if you think it's worth a thought buying...

It all depends on how much he wants, suspension looks pretty bog standard, paint is rough, mags aren't worth anything.

I personally wouldn't pay more than 6k for it. If you've got the extra money to spend go for a 10k VLT. You'll get everything you want and save thousands if your patient.

    Where are you located?

    Cheers

    Jake.

Oh yeah i forgot to give you a price... the guy wants $4. Just the money he spent on the rebuilt.
It's only been running 4 psi, because he hadn't had it tuned yet. The guys had it for 12 years. Is it worth 4?

    You've got PM.

Tuned or untuned, standard boost will be around 7psi. If not theres a leak somewhere

    Cheers

If its a GENUINE VL Calais Turbo then I'd spend 4k on buying it. Only if its genuine though. And depending on how many things were wrong with it

I'd buy it for 4k and wreck the mofo....You'd make about 6k back.

Seriously still a good buy, just consider how much repainting, wheels, suspension and mods cost

I think it's a decent car for 4k but just curious as to why the rocker cover is silver if it's original?

Mate It's not red because when the motor was rebuilt the paint was falling off, so other than painting it again, he just took it all off. If i buy it i will have to repaint it, "go fast" red.
