Hi all as some of you may know i got a 87 vl berlina for $350
it was running before i got it
tho it went threw a big puddel of warter and ran like crap they got it home running on like 3 clys they turned it off and it has never started again it has sat around for like a year before i got it
there is no power to petrol pump
no lights on computer flashing unless i connect power to the pink wire (then it flashes wireing loom codes and ecu ok)
no power on plugs of (CAS) 12v 5v nothing...
ive been pulling appart the dash to find out whats going on and it looks like my wireing loom has been hacked and chopped for the last 22 years and then with the warter that it got driven threw i think all the connections are bad
now from what i have been reading there is a few types of wireing looms for the vl's
wagons berlina , sl , calias
i have a sl parts car now is the computer/engine loom the same on all cars ?
also what about fuel pump loom ? is that the same on berlina/sl ?
myne has a factory imboliser that has connections and joins everyware and my max ellerys manual shows connections diffrently so some one has hacked it before
can anyone point me in the correct direction with the imobliser ? i would like to remove it compleately and put my own in altho that would make me loose my central locking
any help idears would be greatly appreciated
Also can some one tell me what these black boxes on boath side kick panels are ? first 2 pics
also comments on car too :P
thanks
what is this ?
And this ?

what a mess lol.
ditch the alarm and imobiliser.
i would think looms would be the same as each other but i have never touched the looms on inside of a vl before
the engine loom is the same accept manual/auto there are minor differences.
the fuel pump loom is the same.
the first black box on the passenger side I am not sure what that is maybe power antenna module or the old mobile phone module ( and yes they were an option back in the 80's)
the black box on the drivers side is the windscreen module, it controls wipers and washers.
Nobody wants to play with me
ewwww
haha what a mess...
where to start
pm me where you live and i will come check it out for you i should be able to help as i do all my own wiring!
oh and that depends where you live haha lol
be carefull of Nackerz though he has slight male on male tendancies :P
hahahaha
think hes in adelaide.whilst your hear i can put you to work on mine lol
haha nathan you smart arse little shit hahahahahahahahahaha
Yeah well if you give me somewhere to stay and that well i might just think about coming to visit and do some work but it will cost ya haha
Ok, the first pic is the power anntenna module (if its stuffed, a VN Calais one is the same)
Second pic is the wiper/washer module (Think thats been said already)
Immobiliser and central locking are aftermarket. (so you can piss them off and replace with newer items)
If you need help or have any questions, I've done some work on alot of VL's before, so shoot me a PM or something.
So, now get the electrical tape and Max Ellerys out and neaten up the mess. - Oh and SOLDER all your connections, or in a few months you will be
having problems again...
I replaced the computer/engine loom/removed imoblisor now i have the fule pump priming ,power at distributer ,and power at the ecu ! YAY !
but now to top it all off some one i caught some one trying to steal parts off my car they had the distributor out ... and wernt nice enough to mark the distributor (LOL Pr*cks).... .. ..
after reading my repair manual im stuck ..all it says when replacing distributor is to realighn with the marking you made .... ehh there is none ..
How can i go about it now ? it sucks .. i repaird all the problems and now this ..
thanks peeps for all your help
need to push car over to TDC (cylinder 1 both valves closed, piston compressing.can use a comp gauge or something down in cylinder like a screwdriver and go slow)then roughly point the dizzy rotor at mark 1 on the dizzy cup and slide it in making sure it does not turn off as the gears are angled...may take a few goes at it making sure it stops at 1 or slightly past it
then fine tune with a timing light
Goodluck man
