im about to buy a calais with a RB25DET and was wondering if any one knows what a good brand BOV is and a rough price for a decent one. and also would it be worth putting in a RB26DETT if i could find one. any advise is greatly appreciated
depends on boost levels and so forth im not running one but each to their own.
HKS around $100
Turbosmart around $100 - 150
have a look on ebay can get some good ones
ill only run 8 or 9 PSI. and do you have any advise on the RB26DETT. thanks for the reply by the way
i dont think theres much need to go an rb26, you could drop a twin cam head on the rb30 bottom end if you were that way inclined. rb26's aren't cheap or plentiful and the rb30 has enough unless you're some sort of cashed up madman haha.
whoops i see you have a 25. ummm you could get the 25 kickin well without spending big to go a 26. theres alot of parts out there for em because thats the engine that is in the r33 gts-t skylines, and they're everywhere. unless you're going for over 300rw kw i wouldn't bother with the huge cost of finding a 26 and then building it to go hard.

OK thanks. but if i decided to go twin turbo would it be better to rebuild it stronger or start thinking of the 26 if i do go that far? this is the first turbo car iv had so im not too sure of the technicalities of it. and also would it be worth getting a r34 box if i start getting some good power out of it? i wont have for another 2 weeks yet so im just trying to sort out these ideas in my head. thanks for any advice
I have a cousin he had a GTS-T4 Skylinem these were limited edition and only 200 of that year model came to australia, i always been a naturally aspirated person but was very empressed with the power that came out of this skyline, only problem being every couple months it was sent to the mechanics to get coil replaed as on the skylines not to sure about the vl turbo but skylines have coil for each cylinder on the GTS-4, each coil pack was costing him in excess of 400 each time.
If it does help and you are serious about building yourself a tough motor i got a book here with steps and equipment to use to get you up around the 800HP + region and still keep the car street legal it no use to me as i like the naturally aspirated cars more.
how much do you want for it man? i see you live in claremont. ill be in perth in the next couple of weeks to pick the calais up. might come in handy for me.. cheers for the info too btw.
