hey guys, i was wondering if any of u guys know how hard it is to change out the steering rack.
all the bushes on mine are cracked and rock hard. i have a parts car which apparently had the
entire rack changed 3000 clicks ago. i just want to know if its worth putting that one in or just
buying new bushes for the one thats in there. feedback is appreciated muchly, thanks
it's not that hard, 2 big nuts and bolts, 2 tie rod joints, the steering shaft and if it's power steer, 2 fluid lines. then you will need a wheel alignment. using the one from your donor car will be fine.
what bushes are stuffed?
Nobody wants to play with me
pretty much all of them. even the rubber boots. i have new boots which i found in the boot when i bought the car. how long do think it should take?
the reason I ask is I can only think of 1 bush on the steering rack and that is the one the steering column shaft attaches to, and if that is stuffed you would get excessive steering play.
and there are 4 boots 2 on the tierod balls and the shaft boots.
first timer? give yourself 3-4 hrs 2nd time give your self 1.5-2hrs.
