Hey all,
Im having a strange problem with my 87 vl n/a commodore. All of a sudden it just stopped one day, I checked everything and came to the conclusion i had no spark. I replaced my crank angle sensor and now i have spark.
but i stil have no fire. I checked the fuel system all all looks a ok. I even tried my spare computer and tried my air box on another mates vl which went fine! As far as im conserned i have tried everything. Im starting to think that i must have some sort of electrical gremlin.Has anyone experienced this issue before or have any ideas what i might be? any help would be appriciated.
did you take dizzy out to do the cas?
nah man i left it in when i did it!
Did you check the plug that goes into the CAS. They corrode and the wires break off from the back of the pins in the plug. The crank angle sensor is used for injector pulse as well as ignition signal.
yeah mate i replaced the cas plug maybe the connections arnt the best might give that another crack and see if it doesnt solve the problem im having. thanx
did you use a NEW crank angle sensor?
Nobody wants to play with me
Yeah mate brand new CAS and plug/contacts! Sense this problem occurred i have pulled apart the entire steering column, that was what i was working on when it shit itself! Been through everything in there that i touched. gonna go over the CAS and connections in the plug again to eliminate that. Because it has been sitting for a while and has done less than 200kms sense rebuild i will go over the fuel system to check for blocked injectors and check the fuel pressure. Anyone know a way to test that injectors are working without taking them out? This will be my last guess almost ready to call in the auto electrician to find the bloody thing.
