parcel shelf? carpet?

alright im really in need of a new parcel shelf mine has literally vibrated to peices!!

umm.... and also the carpet on it has moved:| its like warped and crap!!

just curious if anybody has one?? i have the red interior in my car so its kinda hard to come by!! if anybody has one or know of a wreckers that has one or something along these lines could the give me some help!!

also is it possible to still buy the carpet for vl's new??
like if i cant find a second hand one i will be just as easy to put a stronger parcel shelf in and carpet it myself!!

so yeah?? any ideas?

Attempt to make one...the stock parcel shelves look like shit, dont know what sorta material...someone should be able to fill you in on that. Mine sits prob 10mm from the top of the back seat and is the same colour as the car...looks nice compared to standard...ill have a look 2moro wat its made of...it also has foam compacted under it to stop vibrations.

jsut make one man. seriously all you gotta do is trace the old one and cut out a new one. cover it in what ever. black back shelf would look alright on red wouldnt it?

do what Jules86 said, make one, get some 6-10mm mdf and use the old one as a template, cut any holes you have to, then put the same carpet you use on sub boxes on it, then its also good for some decent speakers. would probably cost you $20-30 at the most to do.

i got some 6x9 and yeah i was consider just tracing the old one or using some plastic moulds to make them sit up andface them towards the front of the car a tiny lil bit!
i had a look on e-gay there were a few good ones on there!!
my main problem is how gay will it look if i carpet that black as EVERYTHING else on the inside is burgendy type coloiur except for the handbreak and a couple of buttons and crap!!
im just worried if i pull the old carpet off that it wont sit back exactly where i want it!
and i will carpet both sides of it so that it doesnt vibrate! =)

use some contact adhesive to stick your old carpet onto the new parcel shelf. you can get it in a spray can. just spray it on both the parcel shelf and the carpet, let it sit for a few minutes til its sticky, then lay the carpet on the parcel shelf, put it exactly where you want, then let it dry.

If you got spare carpet, just put it on the shelf and see wat it looks like...try making other things black like the seat covers or something...cuz if it's the colour i think it is, i'd hate to see it everyday, too much ugly red for me. Never was a fan of the standard blue interior either.

where r u from man? melb? wot colour are u after, i'll make u one for a slab, i get free foam and fabric/vinyl.... made my own outta dark grey vinyl and 1/2 inch foam.
u'll find 6x9's don't fit in the factory hole in the chasis. and if u cut the chasis, you'll void a roadworthy. just make up some spacers bro. this is where a jigsaw comes in VERY handy!

the carpet on the current parcel shelf is warped!!

i dont want to pull the parcel shelf off and rip the carpet off if it isnt going to go onto my new one properly! cause then i wont have a parcel shelf until i find the correct carpet! i have the right glue and stuff it is used through a air compresser and it sprays through the paint thing....

i can make my own but obviously it will be made abit different because current ones suck! and then if it is different i wont have the correct amount of carpet! also at the back i dont know if anybody has noticed there is little breather holes! therfore the carpet has tones of little holes in it! this would make it fidgety!

im more looking for the same carpet somewhere! or another lot of red carpet that i can cut up and fit so that you can bairly see cut lines and if you do i will make sure both sides are symetric.. (i think the words symetric)

why you so keen on usin carpet bro? use vinyl, heeps slicker.. and with vinyl you can hide the f'__ups. cutting carpet aint easy unless u've layed and joined carpet before.

if you like the red so much, go red, i wasn't saying go all black just i think it'd prob go nicer with the colour (just too much red 4 me/i'd phase it down) But stick to the red if everyone loves it, nothin better that someone else lovin your car as much as you do yourself . Don't worry bout the little holes at the back and don't worry bout that little lip towards the back windshield, my chasis is cut (neatly) for my 6x9's and it passed roadworthy. Looks a hell of a lot neater too.

i made myn out of 25mm mdf just traced the old one and cut her out, got some black heavyduty carpet from bunnings, worked a treat.

sits flush with the top of the back seat. the splits i have on the back shelf cop a beating from my subs tho, has anyone got a good way to seperate the shelf from the boot? i tryed to box it up and use fiberglass but that was a failier.

any one else had this problem....?

i live like 3 hours to melb but it is the nearst city, i go there fairly often.

well i used the term 'carpet' cause i really just want the original stuff up the back.. although if you saying 'vinyl' as in like whats on the roof that would be very slick =)
aghh... there has been LOTS of cutting into my chassie. lol. i noticed this when i brought it! the 6x9 looked as if the tin was cut off with tin cutters!! and there is a hole where my arm rest folds down in the middle of the back seat! it looks asthough a sub has sat there! well.... it looked like it was cut with one of those nibblers!

i put a false wall in for my sub so you can see any of that!! lol. (thank god!)
and the bloke who does my roadworthy is a besti's dad! that was lucky too.....

but yeah. i just want the same colour red in the parcel shelf!
i think i will keep looking on ebay for old carpet been thrown out and just cut it up to match =) or something along these lines....

Mum's boyfriend's a carpet layer, just gave him the word to keep an eye out for any red carpet in the warehouse for ya, not sure how he'll go but i'll pm u to let u know..
I had a look for red vinyl and work today, there was NONE! turned the place upside down lookn for it lol.

in the process of makin a white vinyl parcel shelf for a mate, just finished makin a black velour sub box for another mate....
if u were wondering, yes im an upholsterer. i restore furniture, hoping to one day own my own business car trimming. on the side i do the odd sub box, speaker pod, parcel tray for mates.

i mate of mine is doing something the same lines.. but been in the country you dont exactly get somebody wanting there car ree upholstered everyday!!
lol.... so he gets stuck with motorbike seats needing new leather and the crap that nobody wants to do!

umm... i new he wouldnt have any red vinyl or carpet the same colour...

and im pretty sure it'd be hard to come by!
we just pray that some1 with same colour calais has a crash =\ and i can steal there carpet etc for near to nothing!! whilst trying to help them out getting them some money for the car that they have road off with no insurance =)
lol... well im thinking i will go out into the shed now and pull out the old parcel shelf!! if the red carpet from it doesnt fit exact on my new one there is some old black carpet i will use "temporary" cause i need to stop the rattling bad!
