Hey guys. I know auto - manual conversion has been covered a million times but who has done the manual conversion themselves? Id like to know how difficult would it be if i bought the donor car and took everything out of there.
Is this all i will need?
t5 gearbox
Flywheel
Clutch and pressure plate
Centre console piece
Manual ecu ( i know the auto one will do fine)
Pedals
Sedan tail shaft
Starter motor
Thanks for any help.
pedal box
if u do a search there is a full How too thread with pics and everything.
Easy to follow and in detail.
you could even put a gearbox that would suit an rb30 in it!
t5's are for vn-vs etc or what ever the hell they are.
vls your either looking for an mf5 ( non turbo box )
or mx7 ( turbo box)
mf5 will break if you abuse it.. not the strongest thing getting around
mx7 is much stronger, think 300-350rwkw
or have a look at r32 gearbox simular to mf5 but slightly better
r33 box is also there.
if its n/a and your not going to be a #### to it go mf5
if your going to give it a hard time or turbo later mx7 or r33
Haha sorry bout that. Got the info off another page..
So is it to hard to do at home? Or worth putting it in at a shop
Ill be getting a donor car most likely and simply transfering it all over.
How much better is the mx7 gearbox? Is it noticeable for everyday driving?
i have done the conversion many times. Its a piece of piss!! have a go at it. you will be suprised
Thanks Nackerz, unfortunately my plan will be put back a while. Coming out of the local shopping centre i didnt have my seatbelt on yet and got pulled over. $300 and 3 points. And i recently lost my job so ill have to hold off on spending all my money on my car. my own stupid fault though.
How long did it take you Nackerz? Keep in mind I am 18 and haven't ever checked the transmission before
cheers guys
took me half a day to do the conversion. And im only 22. But also a mechanic![]()
theres a fair bit in it really.
removing the bush in the back of the crank is an asshole
