i already have quotes and crap on steering wheel change!

im looking at closs to about $700..
found steering wheel its self on ebay for $450 i recon i'd do cheaper at a wreckers but yeh... its more the equipment i need to hook up the volume and mode controls!

    shame about the climate control..
i might use the facia of the vp or something and check some other things and see how i go!
    thanks mate!

450.. How are you going to connect the steering wheel controls to the stereo?

All of the threads I've seen vx onwards with the controls on the steering wheel, once they change to an aftermarket stereo they lose the options of having the controls on the steering wheel.

So, from that, you'd have to put in a double din unit that correspondes with the car? Correct??

As for the sunroof, I'm sure it could be done, just get on google and do some searches for sunroof places in Australia. I've seen vl's with aftermarket sunroofs. Some look dodgy though, and they are costly.

As for the climate control, well.. I want to do the same, I remember its been done before, but I'm fairly sure they used a falcon climate control setup.
Mounting it would be the hardest bit.

something to do with getting some sort of computer out of the vy aswell..

i was talking to some blokes in the "wiring" section thing.

but best idea yet i believe is they all said "just use a remote and glu to your steering wheel"

which gave me the idea of just using a remote and some how wiring it up to the steering wheel buttons...

i dunno exactly with electrical stuff... but could have it run of car battery.... some how
and then bi-pass the buttons on the remote and wire it to the steering wheel ones.??

sounds half decent?:| screwed if i know!! whats behind the dash stays behind the dash!!
    lol...

Wasn't a power roof an option - usually bought in the Calais'? Not sure but I remember reading something like that in a Commodore owner's manual - the open/close etc. button was low on the roof lining above the rear view mirror. So if they came factory fitted then I'm guessing it'd definately be a possibility to get an aftermarket one fitted.

Kinda crazy way of going about it. I mean you could mangle the remote, run the wires from the remote to the ones on the steering wheel controller, drop the voltage down for it and then re-run a new wire to the infrared beam part of it to sit above your headunit.

Could be done, alot of work though.

yep youd need to mangle the remote, but most remotes use a pad type connection rather than older style metal to metal switching, so even finding the place to solder wires to hook up you new buttons wouldbe bloody tricky at best.

i have been told, and always keep it in mind, a sunroof is an extra place to break in, also an extra place for rust.

    yeah true about the sunroof!!

umm... yeh mangle the remote! lol. i was trying to go about it using a word that sounded half technical! but that best describes it!

the remotes usually have like a little bub like peice of metal under them! (pulled apart mates old car remote it had broke) it was only a clarion one or maybe even a no brander he brought seperately!
but yeh.... and i recon if i cut of that little bubble thing under the button and soldered the wire from either side of it.... damn i aint that good a solder'r? lol... if thats spelt right!! ooh well.... my idea's always seem to fark up!!

maybe thats why there so rare!! i still want it done some how!!
