i have an 1988 vl calais RB30 i was on my way to work and it started to break down in high rpm ( 4000-5500rpm) then on the way home from work it would not rev past 2500 rpm with out breaking down and backfiring??? then finally when i got home it barley ran at all backfiring at a little over 1500rpm i thought bad fuel but i changed the fuel filter and its still the same any advice from any one coz im lost at the moment cheers
habe you checked the spark plugs/fuel pump
is your intake pipe between your air flow meter and manifold leaking or loose. my mate had the same problem and that was why. also the AFM could be stuffed
Sounds like an air flow meter problem. Try checking fault codes
ok i have changed the AFM checked and double checked the intake pipes and still no improvement does anyone know how i check the fault codes i know i have to set the screw on the side of the computer to A but i dont know how many flashes (Red and Green) mean what i have the manual but find it really confusing can anyone tell me in a way i can understand thanks heaps
Hey people im pleased to report the calais is flyin once again i called a mate that told me to check the dizzy and change the plugs and leads and now its going better than ever so thanks for all the advice c-ya all laterin the rearview mirror LOL
