Hey all .. i did a search on *how to remove a speed limiter* on a vp but no luck or i missed it .. Can anyone tell me how to remove it and if there is a thread on this can someone please point me in the right direction ..
Cheers
Sorry guys i just relised it was under the worng group, as it should of been under VN-VP not VL .. My bad![]()
Neither did i, until i had it down at a test track, and wouldnt go past 130 :S .. its got me stumped
no speed limiter at all. There is something major wong with your set up - either memcal or fuel/spark
Do you have a VP memcal in a VN?

Hey Mate .. Nah not yet .. but its in a vp wioth a little bit of work it hits 130 and acts like it wants to change ./.. I think .. and thats a think it has a stage 2 kit in it .. with a hsv chip .. (so i am told)
The memcal should have an ID on it - or blanked out if it's been modified. The HSV 'chip' is not going to hold the car in gear - they just burn lotsa juice making the power.
I'd try a standard memcal before I did anything else as the memcal may be programmed very badly. Or get the gearbox checked.

change gear that is
memcal ???
change gears yourself see if that works assuming you left it in drive
ive got stage 3 auto and 120 onwards is in the 3rd gear range see if you can go over 130 in 3rd gear
as 88greenvn said maybe theres something wrong with your chip possibly the shift points ?
see if it helps
gear 1 , 2 ,3 work fine ive driven it like that and still the same .. so i am only really left with the computer chip correct ???
or the auto??
I'd be sus on any memcal that is reported as an HSV chip.
All good memcal's stay in cars- Bad memcals get flogged off for cheap.

so will that cheap affect the changing of it will it .. ?
chip not cheap *
There is a speed limiter built into the memcal tune, it won't be low though - just had a quick look at an early VN one and its set to 210km/h soft fuel cut (220km/h high limit).
Mucking with the speed sensor affects this of course - e.g. if you were to put a VR manual tune in it, the difference in speed sensors (10 pulses vs 2 pulses) would reduce it dramatically and cut you off at less than 50km/h! Don't know how you would manage to get it around 130 though, sounds weird. If you have a dodgy mail order tune it could be anything, who knows...
