    Default Turbo Radiator

    Hey guys,

My radiator in a VL RB30 turbo looks like its about to start rusting up at the base so it is time for a new one.

Have hunted around ebay, most alloy radiators are between 270 to 350. Most are 50 to 60mm core etc. I realise you could find them cheaper but would rather pay a bit more if it means shinier and better quality.

I want to hear some success stories and recommendations for radiators for a VL Turbo (i have FMIC if makes any difference). I am in Brissy but dont mind paying for shipping etc if it comes recommended.

    Cheers guys

Cheers guys, will probably just go with the flash looking one on ebay. Seems all the specs are the same if not similar to the rest.

I don't know why you would run an alloy radiator ( I'm happy to be informed/educated as to why alloy is the choice thou.), the standard 3 core copper radiator would out last the alloy one easily and by the looks of the ones on ebay the price from a radiator warehouse is about the same if not cheaper for the copper.
    my 2cents worth.

Cant be anything wrong with alloy radiators. All modern cars run alloy radiators and all your intercoolers (which are actually radiators themselves are alloy.
The one reason why alloy is better as it exchanges heat very very well.
Downside is electrolysis and corrosion using proper coolant made for alloy will help solve this. Possibly leaking welds might be an issue but from what ive seen on a few alloy ones are usually pretty damn good

Not to say theres anything wrong with copper cored radiator if you already got one i'd just use that but if your looking at buying on i think alloys are generally cheaper depending on brand.

all the modern cars do run alloy radiators now with plastic tanks and they do appear to be the car manufacturers choice, alloy cools and heats much quicker and on mass they are far cheaper to produce and they are good enough to last the manufacturers warranty period,
with intercoolers only air passes through them so pressure, electolysis and corrosion are not a problem for them.
my vl has copper just like from the factory my missus VS has alloy plastic just like from the factory.
and finally the old saying "they don't make 'em like they used too!".

Cheers for the info guys, the more i hunt around - alloy seems to be the only ones popping up. Can you still get new copper radiators for VL?

If using alloy I would run an earth lead back to the body. Should help with electrolysis. I am using a Fenix alloy radiator in my VC with V6, cools well but so far only run on a dyno.
