Need free v.i.n check?

Hey just trying to find a free site for my vl hdt so i can enter in the vin numbers to find out more history of the car and its origeons...

had trouble finding a free site to help me out...If anyone has any info on where i can find a reliable free site i would greatly appreciate it...cheers

i have never herd of a free vin check(nothing is free these days) though hope there is because i would like to know mine as well.

Well, I'm not sure what specifically from the VIN you want to check, but here are two tools that may help:

VL Commodore VIN Decoder - VLTurbo.com

^ This one will decode the VIN and tell you how the car came from the factory (according to the plates) so it might help detect rebirthing or someone bullshitting you about it being a factory turbo or 5speed or whatever.

The second one, and the one I think you're after, is a VicRoads tool:

VicRoads: Vehicle Status Checks

With this tool, you can run a search through VicRoads records of license plates or VIN/chassis number. It will tell you all that is known about the car (assuming it is in their records) and if it is known as stolen, written off or in a major accident etc. You can also for $24 (pretty cheap insurance really) get a vehicle history pack which will tell you much more, but give the free one a whirl first.

BTW, sometimes, not all cars show up on the VicRoads thing, especially if they haven't been registered recently. It's best to call up in that case!
