Just got a VL but it was dual fuel, i havent ripped out the gas yet however the gas wiring has been disconected, It runs like crap spluttering when you first put your foot down is the best way i can think to explain it have checked the air flow metre, both fuel pumps, distributor cap an i have no idea what the problem is no matter what i do it doesnt change the problem.. ANY IDEAS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED thanks![]()
try running a timing light on it my vl done the same thing
It could be crook spark plugs or plug leads. Also check that there arent any air leaks between the air flow meter and throttle body. See if your spark plugs are black from running rich and if they are, check that the vacuum hose is still connected to the fuel pressure regulator and it is not perished. Make sure it is not getting both gas and petrol.
clean your throttle body, remove the inlet duct, for BETTER results remove the throttle body ( and clean it off of the car) or just open the butterfly spray a generous amount of carby/throttle cleaner inside and scrub it with a tooth brush repeat a couple of times replace everything removed and start the engine, it should blow some black/grey smoke at first then see if that fixes it.
the symptoms that cause me to do this are similar to yours e.g. when taking off, lightly pressing the accelerator pedal the engine splutters and almost stalls, give it a bit more and she is all good again.
Nobody wants to play with me
in saying u have checked the AFM what test did u perform. Have u tried another AFM?... as well as stated above, Vacuum leaks and Timing and Leaking in the intake duct pipeing after AFM can cause running issues.... Fuel filter, Plugs Leads, Dizzy Rotor and cup contacts.
Go over all electrical plugs with a contact cleaner or INOX/WD40 Etc etc\Goodluck
Wont be a major problem
