Had this problem back in the day with my VL, gutless, 200klm to a tank of fuel.

Took it to Ultra Tune, there response was it's running great, but we changed our spark plugs for good measure even though you did ask us.

Holden mechanic found the problem in about 10 min, not entirly sure what the problem was, something about the distributor being mis-aligned or something.

Felt like a new car after that.

Vl's have 2 pumps the Inertia (intank Pump sitting in the swirlpot) and the highflow pump (external sitting at the front of tank near diff.
if the pump was starting to fail this could cause this problem as the car is starving for fuel..
I would try another inertia then

timing could be way retarded, my EB was the same, a ####ing slug. Got out the timing gun and advanced that sucker and shes a rocket ship. Also a new cap, leads and plugs dont go astray since they gotta be done sometime. Dont over do it unless u like holes in ur pistons lol

ok the timing helped , but tonight i drove it and it died lmao , it was raining like hell and i had to drive it through a ridge overflowing, but it wasnt too deep,
got it running aventually after like 25 min after sitting 6 meters after the bridge . drove for about half K then died again , the drove home fine but still with a stutter ,
just baught Bosch racing plugs and plugs allso bosch platnum pluss ...will be working on the back fuel pump and check the interior , i have an extra engine so blowing it
really isnt a problem ....not that i wana blow it . Thanks all of u for the advice !!!

check the cam timing as well. Often when people put a belt on they don't line the marks up properly
should be able to check the fuel pumps by throwing a fuel pressure gauge on

new parts : spark plugs , leads , coil , cap is not that bad . it runs good but then catching speed runs like shit for a second . and is chewing fuel like no other

speed/Higher rev is mainly Pump Failing as car is starving for fuel or Fuel filter Blocked.
Set timing to 15 Degrees Btdc This is standard
U can advance it to 18 ish be carefull may ping use Premium Fuel

Well the CAS is inside the Dizzy man.. so if u changed over the Dizzy u have changed the CAS then which could have been a dodge one
    Try another CAS
Easy to change Look in my Sig on the How to Below

Rich could be a few things...
    Coolant Temp Sensor
    O2 Sensor
    Blocked Air filter
    Vacuum Leak
    AFM setting out of Spec
    Leaking Injector('s)

I had roughly same problem with my old vl altho myne blew more smoke than a fully loaded wood burning train LOL but turned out computer screw wasnt adjusted back to its orignal poz and the main throttal body plastic intake had a hose connected to the top of the rocket cover it had a FINE crack in it that small i could barly see it my fault i cracked it when changing sparkplugs .. when car warmed up it would make the rubber soft and seemed to make a better seal also when i would rev it it would cause the split to open throw out the airflow meater reading and stutter like crazy untill i got past 2000rpm n she would kick into gear with a mighty black cloud behind her LOL well worth looking into i replaced hose with some garden hose and 2 clamps Stuttering was fixed and yea it feels like a fuel shortage because airflow meater is reading the amount being sucked threw the front of the airfilter and the crack was back up neer throttal body n was sucking more air from there n airflow readings would stay rougly the same hence not enough fuel i would be replacing some hoses before ya spend more $ hope it helps
