If the bolt holes aren't in the heads then it won't matter.

    Is it a red manifold?

    Is the manifold a Performer?

If there are provissions for drilling another hole then go ahead,I had to do this on my blue motor.

I think he means there is no holes in the head.

It sounds like the heads aren't the type for use with a cross-over style manifold. you can still use the manifold. just means it gets no extra heat from the exhaust cross-over. that's not a bad thing really as a hot intake = less power

What? they valley isn't pressurised so why would it leak into the cross-over? if your worried about the trapped air in the cross-over forcing past the gasket (when heated) then drill into the cross-over somewhere from the top so that it can't pressurise.

if i owned a engine with a cross-over style manifold (like my performer manifold) i'd go to the trouble of blocking it . in my case, using a TP dual plane manifold (which doesn't have the cross-over) solves that problem for me

Did your heads have the horse shoe shaped port in the centre?
If so then not running the centre bolt it will leak.
Sounds like you have a red motor and you are trying to fit a blue or black motor manifold, they are not interchangeable without major mods.

Other issues you might have is silicon blocking oil galleries if it slips into the valley.

FYI there are two red motors, pollution and non pollution. One has the EGR port in the centre and one does not.
