Vl commodore classic Berlina ??

Ey all anyone know anything about vl commodore classic ?
i got march 87 vl berlina s2
(vin numb confirms its a berlina and ive got holes for turbo so motor is s2)

but on the glove box it has a wooden strip and says classic ?
and from what ive been reading makes me think its a s1 LOL all my interior just looks plain berlina other than glovebox says classic ?? a mate said he seems to think its a dealer option, and he also said s2 vls come out with black door handels and s1 comes with chrome and most s2's were 1 colour (not greybumpers) lol ! and all the other threads r confusing me lol with carpeted glove box n headrest n high rise center console or was that only the calias ? lol i know there is hundreds of threads on s1,s2 models but wtf is a classic ? anyone

Never heard of a classic. It probably is a dealer model, but there'd be 100s of them(different dealer packs), so no way to know for sure.

Your 'mate' needs to research abit more. Theres no such thing as series 1 or 2 in VLs, if you were going to be politically correct about it, there were 2 updates in VL, so it should be series 1, 2 and 3 (or 1, 1.5 and 2)

Like i said, i dont think it'd have much effect on the model. It would have probably been made over all the years....(or it could be a one off a small car yard did to flog the car off)

yea i think it is probably just a dealer pack .. there were so many different changes in such a short time and since the vl is getting on in its age and people tend to chop and change things unless u have the eye for it its hard to tell if its factory or not... got any pics ?

get some pics up mate and i dont think your mate is right on the colour schemes either, as for classic it's probly just a dealer option like others have mentioned or some stupid previous owner that stuck it on

I remember in the '90's ford classic had the wood grain badge on the dash?
and those above are correct colour coded bumpers were an option later in the vl range and some models were standard colour coding e.g. series 200, ss grpa. but the two tone colours continued right through production of the vl.
