Gday Fellas, was just having a quick look on the forums about installing an Autometer/shiftlight into my car. Is the mounting/wiring a painful job or is it all a straight forward process?
If anybody has pics of one mounted either on the left of the dash hood or the right, could i please see a few. s i dont know what side to install it on as well.
Cheers blokes

hi i looked at some pics at calaisturbo.com.au its straight forward three wires one to power one to coil one to earth ..
no pics but mine sits nicely on the left of the dash. beats cramming it in the corner.
Ahh awsome thanx guys sounds like nothing to it.
If anybody has got a pic, that would be great, but its straight forward...
they look awsome
Have a good one
i crammed mine in the corner on the right and its the best place to put it, it fits nicely, and isnt in the way of anything else...

cept the top half of your air vent! i put mine where you have the smaller one (boost?) i like it there.
who cares about the airvent?
i recon tachos are too big to have on the left.. it sticks out and looks out of place.. but i guess thats just my opinion..
Thanx heaps guys thats awsome who needs airvent..pffffffffttt (no offence vlv8vic)
Nice fit on the right hand side, well perfect fit thanx again DIXIE looks awsome....
one thing sorry man, where have u put the bracket? have u bolted the bracket to the right hand side of the hood?...Was it a pain in the asss
Here is a pic of my Tacho (excuse the quality just took em on my phone Ha![]()
i think putting it on the right will block the quality of sound coming out of the speaker. if you use them, i have pioneers in the dash so i'm putting my tacho on the left. i don't see the point of a monster tacho though. unless its a drag car. who wants a bright light flashing in their eyes at night? stuffs your night vision. If you need the light to tell you when to change gear then there's something wrong. No offence. It's like all these jokers in rice cars.
Yeah true that i can shift no worries with stereo up not hearing the engine but hey, its more for visual and i dont flog it all the time to have the light gleeming in my eyes :P
I have set it up on right, i have speakers in my doors so thats not a problem with sound. Anyways here is the finished product.....
i like the auto meter with the shift light and if you dont want it blining you just put the cap on it or change the shift light setting so it comes on later....nice job on the install dexton_nath83 how id you find it? was it hard?
dude, when i race people at traffic lights etc.. you don't have time to look down at your dash and you can't always hear your engine (over other pplz zorsts) so thats why i'm looking at getting JUST a shift light, no point having a massive dial that goes to 11,000 rpm when most aussie motors barely get to 7,000... i shift at just past 5,000...Originally Posted by bangers
cat? isnt that an animal? no i dont want one in my exhaust system thankyou very much...

hay can any 1 tell me how to wire up a auto meater shift light its a monster tacho witha a shift light step by step with pics plz im only 14 i drive a holden vn ss v8
well i would show u step by step but i got a VL mate not a VN, this is the Vl area, try looking under VN and post it champ. It will be basic though. in your dash cluster find the signal wire(one from coil tap into the stock tacho signal wire) a decent earth and a 12volt power source(i ran mine from the back of my ciggie lighter) very simple it was
good luck
