Hi guys, I'm building a vl turbo wagon and I'm looking at different sized intercoolers. How big can I go without cutting to much away. I'm looking at a 600x300x75. I want it to be massive but I want it to still fit behind the bar. Thanks for any advice.
600x 300 will fit no worries

600x300 is fairly standard these days
depends how long you want the cooler pipes or if you want to cut holes.you can fit a 300x600x76 with pipes at the bottom and run long pipework or can run a 300x450/500x76 and fit it with outlets at the top and run short pipework but need to do 2 holes to get pipes into engine bay.cuts out lots of bends and length out the pipework both will keep it plenty cool
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong

I had a 600x300x100 with my VL and it was hidden.
600X300X75 is mine and fits slight grind of the reo bar at one side to fit it like 4mm deep by about 50mm long
well i recon i mite go for the 600x300x76.
are those ebay ones any good? or r they dodgy like everything els on ebay?
i just hate doing things to find out there was a better way to do it.
dodgy dont wast your time or money get a reputable brand from the start do it once do it properly
Fair enough. What brands are good ones to look at? I don't really know much about coolers.
tell that to my mate who cracked 2 pistons in his turbo escort
i put $150 cheapo coolers in every build never had a problem yet no leaks keeps intake temps really low like they should about to see how much flow im looseing through the cooler but i wouldnt expect it to be that bad on the big coolers

yeah and its an escort LOL..... and a ford :P
I have an ebay jobby,$200 not a worry , keeps it cool, motor not fried, looks the part, neat tig welded,
Do it once, do it intelligently more so
not stupid boost levels and a bodge tune.
2 types too man Bar and Plate cooler or Tube and Fin cooler, each to there own, but expensive coolers vs cheap coolers basically u r paying for the brand. minimal pressure drops and restrictions between the 2.
GKteck make a good Vl No hole cooler kit they are based in melbourne all piping and cooler for about $600.
I shopped around for a bit and found the ebay cooler $200 and piping second hand for $150 all joiners and clamps..(ebay as well)
good luck man
Thanks for all ur input guys. I'm going to be runing about 20-25 psi on the track. So I want it too hold together. It's going to be more of a strip car then a street car.
make sure u dont skimp on the hose clamps get the "T" bolt ones not the (tridon/repco phillip screw type ones) and silicone joiners <---- Not cheap dem der joiners.
thanks. ill keep that in minnd. i guess i dont want cooler pipes blowing off![]()
yeah i have seen on you tube in a dyno shootout some bloke was boosting up some 30 odd PSI and cooler pipes flew out his engine bay about 10 feet above the car.. preety funny. have a search
T-bar clamps FTW them suckers will crush alloyand are only $3.50 each about the same price as a 3" tridon clamp
