Is it my thrust bearing?

Hi guys, I have just picked myself up a project car. I got myself a VL 5 speed wagon. But my problem is
With the engine running and the clutch out I hear a rattle from the gear box/clutch area. Then if I put the clutch in it shuts up.
Also when I am driving/ moving it also rattles no matter what I’m doing (in gear, out of gear, clutch in, clutch out,)

I think its my thrust bearing is shagged. What do u guys recon?

hmm either way the box is coming out
just get a whole clutch kit spigot bearing and throwout bearing (if it a good project you only want o have to pull it out once anyway
suspect either throw out bearing, spigot bearing or clutch plate springs on the disc itselft (absorption springs)

hi prob spigot/throwout bearing but could also be something on your input shaft in gearbox.. don't get a guarentee from a mechanic that its clutch related only to find out your suspicions were right and spending hundreds didn't actually fix the problem... just my $0.02

Yeah I'll chuck some up tomorrow. It's just a white stocker so don't expect much lol

had one today!~
same problem
this one had a rusty spigot bush/bearing and the throwout bearing was noisy as, 260,000km's on it
clutch was gone and the flywheel was hotspotted to the shitehouse all new clutch and bearings and machined flywheel
the noise was mainly from the spigot in this case the noise got louder as you put it under load accelerated or decelerated (clutch engaged in gear)
so if there is NO noise clutch in you may get away with just a spigot bush/bearing but if your gonna pull it all out do you want to do it again when your clutch wears out???

its not much yet but there is no rust in it at all. it just needs a rub back and closed door white re spray, and a new built rb30 LPG engine with about 25 PSI. and a beter gear box and diff. then it will be just how i want it. a nice sleeper. but mostly for stip use and a bit of street.

thanks mate. it will take a while b4 its done but im going to build the engine out of the car then put it in once its done so it will just be my daily till its done

just to clear up. its a 10.5" slick and the rims are off set alot. they were off a torana drag car. i just put it on to see how it looked

nah its only a T25 off an R32 and it has a crack in the exhaust housing. so im going to try and sell it n see what happens, but not many ppl want a turbo with a crack in it. im wanting to put a T04 on the wagon.

I would take $100 buck but I also have a vl dump pipe, a r32 dump pipe and a manifold that I'm looking to get rid of too

Well I actually would like to get at least 350 bucks for the whole lot. Just to get rid of it all. So if u not keen on that then I mite chuck it all on eBay. I have the oil feed line too.
