Hey all as some of you may know ive been working on my vl.. that went threw a huge puddel of warter
ive replaced engine loom petrol pump ecu few other bits and peaces now petrol pump is priming ecu is flashing ok status and everything looks good ...
But i just got a Whole distributor out of my mates dirt circut car (runs wicked) and put it into my vl .. its giving normal readings with multymeter according to this sight so i know its deff a worker as ive seen it running in anothercar
im no mecanic whats so ever more a electronics person, another helpfull person on here told me how to set car to tdc so i can put in dizzy and ive done that (so i think) and FINALY i can here it TRY to fire over but now its fireing over sounds like all 6 fire but next revolotion of the motor it just dies in its ass then next round it trys to fire.. am i just 180 degrees out in timing ? i wouldnt have a clue how to check if the valves are closed or not when car is at tdc sound like it wants to fireover more if i put foot on accelrator
any help would be awsome cheers to all who helped me !! no way i would of got this far without ya's !
ey all i rechecked the computer for errors after clearing the memory a few times now its just flashing
14 Vehicle speed sensor circuit
23 throttle switch circuit
would these cause those problems ?
and how do i go about fixing them

hey man, throttle one can be cancelled by pressing the throttle to the floor and let off. Will not play any role in your problems. Have u tried another coil? And u could possibly be 180 deg out. So it fires then stalls?. Try another afm as well. As u know the dizzy and cas are a pass. Unplug the afm and try start your car if it starts and idles your afm is failing. Goodluck man let us know
ive followed the instructions as in start car for 2 seconds push throttel aircon shift from N to another gear ect then check codes ..
also it doesnt start it just waffles pops and farts like it wants to then next revalotion of motor just doesnt even attempt to fire then wallfles again next revalotion then nothing .. ive got another coil here will throw that on when it stops raining mate has a spair afm too so ill check that out when i catch up with him
i also got told to check if the valves are closed to remove rocket cover and once at top dead center i should be able to move the rockers ? is this true i would of thaught that depends on the springs but like i said im no mechanic .. also got told to get a torch and look down into the hole were the distributor goes and there should be a round mark ?
im going to go over the grounds later make sure they are all making good contact from when i replaced wireing loom .. worth a look..

hmmm. Sounds like your timing more so. Removing the rocker cover and trying to move valves is a no go. Those springs are tuff man. Either use a compression gauge or take out plugs and push car over till cylinder 1 is at tdc(using torch look down through spark plug hole) This is a bit of a pain. The slide in your dizzy so the rotor is pointing at dizzy post 1 on the cup. Being angled gears it will move slightly when u slide it in so get it as close as possible.Tps could be playing up as well hence the throttle code still

took time but worth it in the long run !! got car for $350 in farly good condition not running replaced wireing loom ,computer ,fuel pump ,distributor, fues and relays NOW SHE WORKS!!!!

Nice work, when I tried putting my dizzy back in I ended up just spinning it like a roulette wheel and slid it in and it worked!
ha what a fluke ay.. i remember when i did my sisters 5.0ltr i had to point it at number 2 so as it turned when i put it in it twisted to number one. if that makes sense
sure does man as the gear on the dizzy is angled teeth so when it slides in it twists a little. :P
