Default Which box to go for

Hi guys. I'm putting together a shopping list for my vl wagon and I'm wanting to keep it manual. I'm looking to make about 250 - 270 rwkw should I go for the Toyota supra w58 5 speed or the vl turbo mx7 5 speed?

Is the mx7 as tough as the w58?

Or if anyone has a manual vl turbo, how much power are u putting through it?

    Thanks for any tips. Cheers

id personaly stick an r33 box behind it they are tough and reliable .. but the mx7 will take the punishment depending on what sort of condition it is in

Would I need a custom tail shaft and stuff.
The mx7 box seems a bit easier because I can get the right tailshaft, flywheel, mounts and everything els

MX7 should be tough enough. and alot easier to get the parts for.

But as always it is about how much your willing to put into it. R33 is tougher and will probly last longer depending on how you treat it.

WHat is it going to be used for? racing?drags?daily? etc

Well it's going to be a street and strip kinda thing. It will be driven on the road most days but I plan on doing a fair bit of dragging and track events like the nats and performance car mania and all of those type of events

I'd go with the R33 box too, and its definately a straight bolt on. Its a big box though, but i think it ust fits in without any modifications..

Not sure about the tail shaft. Do a search for one of the vl turbos on here or other sites and ask them what they have done to make it fit. There is plenty of people with the R33 box fitted. Im sure the info is out there somewhere

Well if that is the case then I will just get a brand new one made up. At least then I will know that it is 100% spot on.
