Question Horn has a mind of its own!HELP!

Hi i was wondering if any of you's have had any problems with your horn?
My mum just bought a VL Exec last week and the horn wasn't working so she replaced the fuse and it works now but it goes of it's head when you turn left!
Do you's have any idea what could be causing this?

Sounds like all it would be.. Maybe a stray wire in under the horn pad that keeps bumping anything metallic and grounding when a corners taken.

If cleaning the contacts doesn't fix it. Then somewhere in the boss plate is one wire...thats had it's insulated rubbed off. A simple fix for this would be to wrap some electrical tape around that section. Although, I'm not sure how long that would last.

Is it the original steering wheel? Or an aftermarket one? If it's an aftermarket one, then it could be a cheapy with a cheap horn switch. You really need to check it out. As it's illegal to drive without an operating horn.

My wife says mine works too often. I just tell her that she doesn't give me enough oppurtunities to use it.

    Sorry...bad pun.

my old vh had the same problem, pretty funny when your driving around a crowded supermarket carpark. I pulled the wheel off and the horn wires were rubbing on the boss kit. Pull your wheel off, poke the wires around a bit with your finger, if the horn goes nuts, thats your problem. It may also be the ground connector on the horn as well, give that a bit of a clean and make sure its connecting well! If it is the wires, like voltking said, a bit of electrical tape will do the trick!
All the best, if all else fails just wind your window down and start waving, pretending that you know someone.
I pity those poor suckers on the freeway. Gas, brake, honk. Gas, brake, honk. Honk, honk, punch. Gas, gas gas!

I had a torana that played the same game.Turned out whoever put the sports steering wheel on had used a hammer to remove the standard wheel,by levering up with the knees & flogging the shaft. All he managed to do was collapse the steering shaft a little bit, causing the horn to contact when turning left.Who would have thought. I've disconnected the horn wire on the past 6 cars i've owned.Keep telling the mrs they break from excessive use.She hasn't caught on yet! ha ha

OMG, My VL Exec. does this also. I ended up disconecting the horn. I thought I solved the problem when I fitted a new horn but... BEEP BEEP! nope, so now I have found the problem to be with my boss kit and the connectors.
