    Default walkinshaw worries

my confidence has been shattered in the walkinshaw. i still love them but what some ppl said in some older post really clouds my mind. they got some names relating to the excessive use of plastics on them. any one want to give there oppinions on QUALITY of a walkinshaw. not the look

Plastics.. Quality? Plastics?? It's all the same base as your vl just with a kit? I don't know what other stuff would be there to be a lacking of quality.

i know its only a kit. i never really thought of it like that though. do you think that the kit is weaker perhaps because theres so much of it?

    no.

its just easier to damage because it offers a hell of alot less ground clearance than a regular vl...

I'd say there'd be other things to a walki than just the external kit, if anything like the new HSVs there'd be new interior, this n that.. they would have been put in by HSV instead of Holden so this could mean better/worse quality as a whole package? Wouldn't have a clue

If we're talkin about fake walki's/kits then the kits would be freshly made and wouldn't be going brittle etc.

I tell you what, a genuine HSV walki kit would be worth BIG $$

its just like any body kit, you gotta watch the kerbs and so forth or they'll just snap off but i reckon the walkys look great (apart from the boot spoiler) and the real ones have V8s!!! every commodore should have one of them, ive seen how well the turbos can go but id still rather put an injected 5ltr under my bonnet and set it up for high revvs ----->gone>!

the original kits were better than the kits now - unless you can get a genuine one which i have heard go for between $4000 and $6000 unpainted.

vlacs people probably pay them out because they will never be lucky enough to own one. im pretty sure the interiors werent anything special (tacho dash).

aghh.... plastic looks ok on walkys i spose.....

its not a matter of paying them out cause they wont own one! but when i see people with walkys and they paint them like hot house green and that... it upsets me! i think they should be left original! wanna do a vl up buy a calais or exectuive... theres 500 walkys out there dont be wrecking them! as for the interior:| meh i have no idea on any of this kinda stuff.... i like n i dislike!

plastic is shocking but then if i was offered one surely wouldnt say no!
but i think i only like them because there so highly respected!

I heartily agree. it will have a v8 in it eventually. vlv8vic. i take it you mean 6000 for just the kit not the car. thats pretty expensive. ahh ive abandoned hopes of putting an ls2 in. i feel its not worth it. id prefer a maloo or something with it. whats a good engine. i want it to go pretty fast. an engine with potential is probably best i think. im not too sure

id put in that injected 5.0, strengthen the bottom end, good pistons and rings.. they have ohc so head job port and polish, maybe looking at taking the compression up a notch, copper gaskets, MSD ignition, higher capacity fuel intake ie bosch pump and bigger injectors.. make the engine strong and able to rev.. v8s have lots of torque for the takeoff and if they have a higher redline imagine the legs it would have.. you would have to set up the rest of the car acordingly tho, especially the box and rear end.
