their is no spark from the coil, we changed the coil theirs power to the coil still not sparking.
Mate please do a search...
All we seem to do is go around in circles on these forums about this particular problem u r having. I know u r new.
The Crank Angle Sensor is mainly the problem with no spark. Its a very common problem on the RB30..
take plug off of the crank angle sensor under the dizzy
put about 50ml of water down plug connector on dizzy and around it
reconnect plug
if starts/ has spark then crank sensor is at fault
else as above follow the other threads to find detailed diagnosis of this fault (not just a quick backyard method i stated)
used to do this all the time on my r31 and mates vl's both models had the same problem of contacts wearing out in the internals of the sensor
put water in go 50 metres repeat they were some long drives home ;(
will do in the morning thanks heaps![]()
yeah no worries let us all know how ya go!~
but rember what i sadi a bit of a backyard method but 9/10 it finds out if sensor!~
still dont know whats wrong with it took it to the mechanics thursday and been their for 2 days and they replaced the ignition and the censors and distributer and the coil etc and still not sparking they got it to run for thirty seconds then it cut out again ... :/
do an engine rebuild mate with new everything lol sensor, computer, dizzy, coil wiring harness expensive but the bloody problems with the RB30 motor is what sparked my interest with my project check out my other post in the vl forum got sick of my motor spakin in self all the time replaced CAS 3 times with in 1yr rebuilt the whole dizzy on the 3rd with new bearing behined the CAS it was scrappers main reason why the CAS kept dying rust dust kept flyin round in the dizzy and stuffing it up, oh yeh new rotor button and cap too, now the current prob is that my stock computer is stuck in test mode but its something to do with the sensors that are causing it cause i borrowed my mates ecu you and it does the same thing so now im replacing the whole ecu with a haltec 2000pro with sensors to suit but im rebuilding the whole motor first with a rb25 head so..
my advise to you is rip your motor out and give it a refurb cause the amount of money you'll spend on that mechcanic is the same as a rebuild would cost you unlees he is your friend and will do it for a carton off beers....
good luck anyways hope it works out i no the feeling when your VL is sitting in the driveway and you cant start it up and take it for a spin its murder ive missed out on so many car events cause of the probs with thease motors i should of rebuilt mine when i got it a year ago the guy who sold it was a dodgey mechcanic lol
