So far all iv got on my vl exec are extractors and a high flow airfilter.
this is how I was planning on spending the 3 grand and would like to know if anyone could think of a better way to spend it or if you know where to get the part for a good price:
-rb25 head
-two stage 2 or 3 cams maybe Tomei (any suggestions)
-XF throttlebody
-Z32 AFM
-3A Podfilter
-Lifters
-Valve springs
-Highflow cat
- braided air, water, fuel lines
- Chip (need help)
- Oil cooler kit
What do you reckon? BTW no forced induction due to the P plater laws
Cheers
Rb25 head would cost a heap to do...
The tomei cams...well there goes about a grand.
Braided lines aren't cheap and wont give you any better performance
Ecu, well you will need an rb25 wiring loom and ecu, so I would recomend a power fc but they are normally used for turbo's
OK I will break it down for you;
-rb25 head
As said too expensive for minimal gain for an N/A
-two stage 2 or 3 cams maybe Tomei (any suggestions)
Again out of your budget and gains are marginal
-XF throttlebody
No point
-Z32 AFM
No point with an N/A
-3A Podfilter
Stick with what you have there's nothing between them and a pod filter besides extra hassle with the law
-Lifters
Good luck finding lifters
-Valve springs
No point
-Highflow cat
Unless the standard cat is buggered no point. If you have the money to burn you might notice a difference but it will be mostly placebo effect.
- braided air, water, fuel lines
For aesthetic purposes only no performance to be had.
- Chip (need help)
Could look into getting a nistune?
- Oil cooler kit
Helpful but I don't how helpful on a stock engine on the street.
If I was you OP I would just wait till your off P's and get an A8 and wack it in. Your looking at spending big money for no real gains with an N/A.
Welcome to the internet where people have opinions that you might not like
I say go with the 25 head... It would get the n/a revving off its tits and still have good low down power

you can get an RB25 head for 300-600 which is prety cheap and im defently going to put big cams in it but unsure on what brand to get? Tomei? what are the costs for having a mechanic put in my cams? and what performace mod do you think gives you the biggest kw difference other than forced induction
There's nothing wrong with the SOHC head though?
Spending money for the sake of spending it.
Power from NA engines comes from compression. Give it more.
Put it in a term deposit until your off your P plates.
Ok there is no way i could wait that long to modify my car i am way to amped, ok il change the question if u had to spend 3 grand on trying to make a N/A as quick as possible what would you do?
id spend 3000 on a house deposit lol.
but in all seriousness if your cars auto convert it to manual
2.5inch exhaust
give it a good service
and then just save your ass off.
big cam will kill a n/a there will be no gain realy except the sound
