Hey I know this may have been covered ages ago but my reverse lights are not working.
Have checked if there is power and yes there is have checked the selector on the gearbox and that is fine I was reading that i may have to wire a switch up myself to turn the lights on or repair the sockets for the light
Am wanting to go for my rwc next week so any help will be very appreciated
well man if u r getting power to the lights sockets,, i would think u have a bad connection onto the globe contacts..
I know if there is a bad earth here as well u will get the same effect.
so spray some contact cleaner or Wd40/INOW in the plug and give the globe a good wiggle. check the earth (black wire on the side of the socket. has a spade connecter on it.)
I had a problem here a few years back was a bad earth. even try and pull the contact pins up a bit as they may not be contacting the globe..
Get a mate to sit in the car in reverse and try this method. As long as u trust him not to run over u.
If u cannot get it to work still... go to a wreckers and grab some more from a VL or VK etc as the sockets are the same.
Goodluck man
Let us know
Thanks will give that a go this weekend and try and find out what's going on thanks again for the quick reply
You can just have it in reverse and put it on reds and the reverse lights should come on. Mine's manual though idk about yours
could do that ACC on and put it in reverse.
hey do you mean accelorator on and then put in reverse?? cause even when i put in reverse and reverse up the lights still dont workas i said this weekend i will test everything out, have a mate that has had problems like this before hand so hopefully we can get that sorted. Thanks again, will let you know on how it goes.
what we mean is that normally your reverse lights should come on when in reverse and your ignition on acc. So there is no need to start the car. Goodluck man.
auto or manual?
both operate differently.
btw manual is the easy fix.

its auto![]()
assuming, you have checked fuse #11
also have someone stand behind the car and and slowly select all the gears, to see if the lights flash/or come on in another gear other than reverse.
you said you have got power but is that in the reverse light socket? If so it is just a contact problem as mentioned above.
otherwise, the reverse light switch is part of the neutral safety switch on an auto, therefore you will need to test that!
here is some info.

Hey guys thanks for the quick replies, got them working. The contacts for the earth were not touching and the contacts on the bottom were not touching as they have been pushed down too far. Got them done and going for rwc today. Thanks again guys
Hey good work man.. knew it was nothing to drastic as u had power at the plug.
