What to do with my VL?

Hey Guys...just found the forum!

I've got a VL Commodore Exec 1986 and the rego has just lapsed, I have another vehicle and with petrol being so expensive now I am thinking of letting it go...

It's in fairly good nick and drives well, has a little bit or surface rust and a few shopping troll dints...but apart from that it's a great car and served me well.

So the question is where to go now? Should I spend the dollars to get it roadworthy and try and sell it? or should I just drive it down to a commodore parts/wrecker and see what they'll give me for it?

Yeh im sellin mine too, no rust, no dings, 3months rego (in FS section)
The price of petrol is shocking, but have yas heard that the ACCC rekon the oil companies are charging us more than they should and when the price of oil goes up then down etc, the price of petty just keeps going up and up (no down).

How much are they worth these days? I don't really think I'm interested in the hassle of getting a RWC...what would it be worth to wrecker? how much if I just drove it in and said what will you give me?

not a chance in hell a wrecker would pay 1500 for a car ..

wreckers are in the business of buying pieces of shit and pulling down whatever they can and then selling the car body for scrap metal.

my mate rung a couple wreckers to get some qoutes on his VN 5L .. perfect interior and motor, just had bad paint and rust.. biggest offer he got for his car was $550 and HE had to drive it to them.

whats an injected 5L with gearbox worth on its own?? lmao!

ok so wrecker is out of the question, can i sell it privately if it's not registered/RWC? Would I get $1500 for it?

you can sell it without rwc and unregistered....it depends on how good the car is to how much you can get.....

mate i would sell it privately or strip the car and sell the parts and give the rest to the wreckers! ya gonna make more money this way then any other!

You'll probably get more ppl interested in the trading post, cuz most ppl that will read ur posts in this forum will have a vl already, and will only want it for parts or maybe a better car than their own. If its in good running order and advertised for 1500 you'll prob get it, ppl are still buying vl's up here n/a autos for 3500. That's y we like to go down south to buy, u guys are so cheap
