YES YES YES I KNOW THIS PROB SHOULD BE IN THE CAR AUDIO SECTION!!
BUT...
im more curious as to how to stop boot rattle in a vl!
i might post one in the car audio aswell, but as you boys own the vl's and obviously have the rattle or have stopped some of it i would like to know how!
i just went through all the roof of the boot (underneath) and filled all the holes in with expanding foam!! very carefully! as i heard storys of major F ups!
i then used cardboard!! lol.. yes its true i was told its the best sound deadener! i put it in between all the welds in the same place! but i literally crack all welds first! i dont think this will matter!!
im not yet to drive it but will crank the sub tomorrow and will be expecting boot rattle still! alot seems to be coming from underneath but its above the petrol tank!!
i think...
GRRR..... well has anybody stopped it?? like all the little things arnt rattling its like a huge vibration type underneath! and another 12" is going in within the next few weeks!! so i want it stopped bad!! =)

it's either the boot lid, the boot catch (attatched to the car) or the tail lights usually. tried lowering the boot catch?
...aS thE fOruM JunKie StRikEs aGaiN!...
The center garnish rattles aswell, and your number plate.Number plates easy to stop. Just jam somehing underneath it. Center garnish you take it off, jam some more expanding foam in.. Put it back on..
Apart from that I haven't looked too much into it unfortunately. Let me know how you go as I don't want rattles this time around. My old car was bad. But I couldn't hear it when I was in the car.. hehe
yer i run 2 12's ina custom box man. i found best solution for the bottom rattle is a nice fat donna lol or if u wanna get fancy buy some foam from clark rubber or something. card board behind the nunber plat and should stop most of it , the only rattle on mine is on the lid. still havnt figured that one out. any ideas?
On the lid between the welds and the top sheeting? Jam some more cardboard in between?
aghhh...... well yeh my garnish and the number plate and that are fine!! and the boot lid.....
its more like from underneath =\
im thinking im going to have to lay a strip of cardboard underneath the false floor i put in!!
hard to explain but thats all that could be rattling =\ oooh no!
so 'danny_sway' you dont get any vibration from outside the car??
inside the sound is clear as day!!!
but its when i get outside the entire car sounds like a dirty big vibration....
where the hell do i lay this blanket? =\

i only have serious bott rattle on the lid which i am now goin to go put cardboad inbetween lid and welds right now. just big puffy doona, lay it down on the floor a couple of times folded over its self, and lay the subby box over the top. its really simple take u no more than 2 mins dont even need to take box out just move it up the boot or to side while u lay the blanket down over the boot floor and i would recomend straping the box down as the box is now not at sterdy as it on top of a soft puffy dona and not a flat floor.
Well just got the sub going again today, and i cant pinpoint the sound from underneath, someone needs to know how to stop it, its the only thing that rattles on mine when played normal, cranked; the lid only a bit but the bumper vibrates an awful lot.
I got expandifoam under the lid, foam in the whole back well of the car, foam gluded to the boot lip where it seals down (yes i know its dodgy and catches water when it rains or wash ur car, but it pretty much stops the lid from vibrating). Prob foam up behind bumpers when i pull them off to paint.
But yeah does the one underneath get stopped from inside or outside the car?
I'd like to see some vls in some sound comps, with there cardboard pieces every, foam stuffed in tight places and big fluffy doonas on the base of the boot. lol!![]()
aghh dude the big doona!! it aint working....
i built myself a custom boot! =) this thing has the typical false floor the kicker panel on the right and at the back where that lip goes up is where the box is and my sub faces towards the back of the car in the middle!
its a calais which has a fold down arm rest in the middle and has to of those air breather type things coming out so i cop some bass in the car! =) get my drift??
as for this rattle!! GRR. i gots down n dirty!
it seems as if there are a couple of tin like plates that sit above the petrol tank and they are screwed in..
my guess. screws are loose etc or just tin on tin? i will lift up my false floor and put some sort of rubber matt in there? really thin stuff!! like a mm thick! n then just bolt floor back down on it! should make a big difference! and then if it persists im gunna pull the damn tank off!!
I CANT WALK ON WATER BUT I CAN STUMBLE ON ALCOHOL
i just been out side 4 3 hours messing around wif mine, i eliminated all rattled with rubber jamed in between lid. i got a bit of rattle undercar. ill have a go at it soon and let ya know how to fix it
its not so much as a rattle!!
its like a distortion type thing.... get my gist?? more like a vibration..... ooh gawd...
i need go check out some of you guys vl's and see if its just mine thats been a hooka n a half!!
I CANT WALK ON WATER BUT I CAN STUMBLE ON ALCOHOL
basically i just filled the cracked welds and boot shell with silicone....
My number plate i put 3 more screws in it, and i found it was the bumper trimming and the piece of plastic between the lights rattling, on the inside near your reverse lights are 2 screw for this piece of plastic make sure they are tight..
now i got basically none at all with running 2 x 12" clarions..
dont know about underneath u guys are on about...
ok ok ...
there is NO rattles coming from lights or plastic's at all!!
lol...
umm.... maybe silicon on the inside will do some good...im gunna pull my boot apart ONCE AGAIN!! and just do it all properly! like over use in silicon rubber matting, foam! god know what else i can find!!
I CANT WALK ON WATER BUT I CAN STUMBLE ON ALCOHOL
haha tell us how u go ill think of other things that may caus this..
the fuel tank ungerneath check the brackets..... highly unlikely
pffffttttttttt i dont know :P:P
ahhhhhhhhhhh
see my post in the audio section on VL rattles. massive list of things i fixed to eliminate all rattle.
ahh nice.... but i got no worries hah
