OK so i am inbarking on a project car as we speak,,,ive decided this so far its going to be a all out custom wagon, i can 99% of the work my self, now i would your opinion,
for each ideas there is a minimum list of mods i will be following but i want to know what has worked for you guys before,
ok so far this is what ive planned and started collecting,
Car - 88 wagon - pics when i can get to pick the car up, it has no rust what so ever, 88 though on the clock which is all genuine, The guy i bought it from is the original owner and is 75.
it will get the following as a minimum,
Calais front - already have off my old vl.
a manual conversion - already have the pedals, console,
a full cream leather interior - have the front bucket seats, (coulsens)
i have a back seat thats getting retrimmed, and the cream calais door trims,
black carpet ordered
a moddified 31 spline lsd vl turbo diff or something strong (ideas)
full detailed custom body work including shaving of lock excpet drivers, colour coding, and no ariel,
and a custom candy wine red
full lowered suspension rebuild
NOW where i need your opinions,
Do i go down the turbod 6 route and build a Rb30det witha monster high mount, 6 speed manual, all chrome piping ect, u know the typical turbo line.
or do i build a carby feed 355 grumpy ass 8, sumin lil different in a vl wagon and especially in rockhampton, now i will be moving down south so it will probally end up doing some how so quailty in the looks are everything but perfection, but i wont build a all show and no go car so shoot me what you guys think, i have funds availble to do the full car before power cruise 2012 so start shooting ideas

355 for reliability
i like vl wagon with 5ltr and calais front what colour is it?
Theres a white one gets around my work area with the air filter through bonnet and a nice V8 in it looks tops

im not a big fan of crome, if i were doing this i wouldnt have any on there at all. black is always nice for rims because it blends with the tyers. dark tint is nice too
i disagree with the dark tint you dont want to hide the beautifull trim you will have
however dark tint is good for when you want to hide trim etc etc, at shows you just roll the windows down when your driving it around you might not want to be seen
thats very true however itll be getting very dark tint and a full detailled engine bay with anodised black fuel fitting ect, all hidden wiring a 3 gauges on the bonnet, with the height i want it im thinking a nice set of ve 19s or black nineteens if any ones got suggestions throw up in here,, itll be a six speed manual if turbo or a 2 speed powerglide or awesome turbo 400 ect gearbox if v8 what box would u suggest atm turbo is looking the favourite for me as ive had a vl with a 307 already
all i can say is the VL is the best commodore made so far. love them to bits

vy equals fail,,,,they are very nice and i have a sever soft spot and love for them but vl is the win
lol although i love classics im more into having a newer looking car for the everyday drive

Undecided weather to change the inside to black leather to suit seats or change seats to red to suit the rest
I've got a sedan here with with black custom vy sig seats in the look the go,,, pick the wagon up tomorrow, I've got a 304 Sitting here ATM and a rb25 with a blown bottom but fully done head including cam gt3540 r custom intake and exhaust manifold ported out the works and I'll have s 2 bottom end from the wagon, so bit conflict on ideas ATM the 25 has a new clutch reco box hanging of it so a 30det is lookin good might sell my 304 and sedan to my old so he can do a 355 project
I'd use the 304 as a boat anchor. Jokes aside, Go the rb30/25 conversion since u have most of the pricey stuff already. Sure a 355 stroker will b reliable and make good pwr, but I'm sure ull feel better blowing them away with ur 6cy. Besides, there's so many v8's around, anyone and everyone can And had built and tuned them to make pwr....for me that's boring. However, I do love the v8 sound though
. I'm bout to turn the key on a forged rb30 full race prepped motor. The motor itself has cost me $10,000 using all the best names etc. So if ur chasing 500kw or more and don't have a total budget of around 25000-35000ish for the whole driveline build, go the v8 coz u'll make the pwr somewhat cheaper. Keep in mind the prices I mention is paying to have everything done for me. Good luck
