Hey all, have done all the usual searches but couldnt seem to un-earth anything of value....
My current problem is that if i switch the fan on in any setting it just blows air out at my feet, ive
read all the forums about hoses being in the wrong position on the back of the heater control, but that
doesnt seem to be the issue here (though im certain they're not in the correct spots).
I have stripped my dash down and for an experiment i found the actuator for the forward "face"
setting for the fan (which is pretty much on the right side of the black "control" box where the hand brake would end on an ea-ed falcon), i turned the fan on and then pressed the actuator by hand and shaboom there was air coming out at my face, as soon as i let the actuator go it releases and goes back to my feet.
I felt around the back of the actuator and found the vacum hose and followed it back to the heater control, i tried it on every single hole and nothing. This could be really stupid because i have no idea
about the fans but i put my finger then ear to the hose and there was no air movement, no pushing or pulling. Did
this with the other hoses with the same result. Now i know my heater control is dodgy because you need to put the knobs in the perfect spots or it wont turn on, i just found it odd that the "face" actuator hose was used on every hole on the back of the controller with no results.
Im just wondering if there is any way this could be a vacum leak and if so where from?
And if it sounds like something else im all ears as this has been bugging me for quite a while.
oook......i re-posted here last night but its disappeared?
i said im sorry for posting the thread because i found an answer for it on ct after a few more hours of searching...found that the last owner took the vac line OFF the manifold and just had it dangling round and replaced it with a line for a boost gauge, so all im doing is buying a t-piece and slapping that in there....so the only trouble i have now is i think there may be a slight vac leak in the heater control its self because it is the only spot with even a minor hiss and the actuators are really struggling to move.
if there is a leak you should be able to hear the hissing with the engine running.
would adding the T piece cause a drop in vac because you are sharing the vac line with the boost controller? try removing the boost control line and just hook up the heater line to test.
also over the years the slide controls get dirty and wear a bit, you can take them out and give them a good clean with contact cleaner and inspect the copper strips for wear.
