    Hi All,

Does anybody know of the the differences between the series 1 berlina, and the series 2? Is the series 2 better than a series 1?

    thanks.

If you are choosing between series I and II. choose series II as Salem said series II are better and have a few more extra goodies that series I doesn’t. plus if there were any thing wrong they would have fixed them on the series II

Like when you see common faults with things it is all ways on the first ones released .

According to the info I have in September 1987 the Vl recieved upgraded suspension and an upgraded Automatic transmission. Also with the edition of the LSD you also got Disc Brakes on the rear end.

Not sure if that helps but might be usefull.....

    Regards Guy.

The series two as far as i know also carried a 3 core radiator over the 2 core, and some other minor engine tweaks in the cooling department mainly.

    Some Series 2 changes where:

Engine - Provision made for turbo on NA motors (Oil & coolant ports)

Automatic Transmission - Selector cable on series 1 replaced with selector rod on series 2

Manual Transmission - Clutch pedal was made adjustable

Power Steering - Pumps are different.

Electrical - Series 1 had Hitachi Starter motor and Alternator. Series 2 changed to Bosch

Interior - Plastic surround on center air vents colour coded.
Different Velour trim to series 1 (On Berlina and Calais)

If I remember / find out more, ill add to the list.

Series II Started about May - June 1987, and continued right through till the end of the VL series in August 1988.

Late VLs had Square Headrests, Early have Rectangle like VKs. As well as the trimming differences.
