Hi guys, I am in the process of buying a VK that has more or less been converted to a VL (VL Calais Front including Fully Operational Eyelids, Rear Bar & Taillights, VL Interior, RB30E and Manual Wiring Loom, VL Diff, VL Brakes etc etc) everything except the moulded boot lip that VL's have.
The only reason old mate is selling it is because he has found an extremely clean R31 Skyline and has lost interest in the VK/L, only thing he wants from it is the Manual Box and Tailshaft, which isn't a drama as he has agreed to include his "Parts Car" in the sale, which has an auto and a strong RB30E in it.
Question I am posing is this, Is there any way to modify the Manual Loom to suit the Auto? Or am I better off hunting a 5 Speed?
I understand that I can strip the Manual Loom and Install an the Auto Loom from the Parts Car, but at the moment Im trying to find an easier way.
Thanks guys, Jay
Manual or auto loom does it really matter? I don't think it's going to be a problem
From what I have seen comparing the 2 Cars while looking, the Auto Loom has a few extra wires and 1 noticable extra plug (Nuetral Safety Switch). Obviously Kickdown Sensor etc would come into the Auto Loom somewhere?
You can bypass the neutral switch going auto to manual Duno if it's reversible. Is it really worth going thru the problems can't you just buy a cheap Vl?
id say just try find another 5pd, saves the stuffing around
Going where no late model stato/caprice has gone before.... GAME ON!!
You will also need a t i , which is an auto trans computer thingy.... Mine lives on the right hand side of the steering column ( behind the dash ).
I went through 2 auto's before i converted to manual, never looked back ...
